Reviewed 26 December 2012

Met all expectations from time of booking to time of leaving. Sue and Robin are perfect hosts and our first B&B (ever!) was a wonderful experience. It was a lot more expensive than some hotels we've stayed at but we've never stayed anywhere where they welcome you with a glass of their own brewed Pinot Noir and offer transport to the local restaurant for dinner. When we got back to the B&B after dinner we were offered a glass of their own port and it is a very good port! The room was comfortable with all the facilities needed, including chilled water - the only downside was the quilt was too thick so we had to get a blanket our of the cupboard to put over the sheet. Breakfast was excellent and it was nice to sit down with your hosts and the other guests. Sue even arranged for a local taxi driver to take us for a tour of Christchurch on the way to the airport.

Room Tip: Only 3 rooms and I have no dounbt they're all excellent.

in october 2012 me and my husband got married at clearview lodge. we were aware it was not a wedding venue but the owners agreed we could get married there as long as we booked all three rooms out for the night and also if my husband and i booked a room the night before. so we did that. we were disappointed from the moment we arrived. the owner was constantly in our face. the room was not clean. there was a bowl of rotton fruit in our room which was advertised as a "fresh fruit platter" it was far from fresh! we were not made to feel welcome. we were meant to be served breakfast at 9am on the morning of our wedding. we went into the kitchen and were made to feel so unwelcome. she gave us breakfast at 10am it was dry and cold and she told us not all of the meal was there as she had "ran out". definitly not what id expect from a 5 star hotel! we started getting ready for our big day. my inlaws arrived to help us get ready. they were also staying that night in the other rooms we had booked and the owner was rude to them from the moment they walked in. i was trying to get ready and the cleaner kept coming in and out of my room and bathroom with dirty towels and a toilet brush in his hand. i asked him to leave several times and he wouldnt and i felt this was very rude and un professional. my children then arrived and were supervised the whole time. they are very well behaved and still the owner kept picking at them over nothing telling them off for things they were not even doing. guests arrived and we began with the ceremony outside. i had gone over everything that was going to happen with the owner and she had agreed to it all as it was all with in reason. everyone was very respectable of the property. all bottles and wine glasses were put away by us before we went to the next venue. i had told the owner that my self, my husband, my inlaws ( who were also staying at clearview) and a few friends would be coming back around 9 for an hour and this was all okayed by the owner prior to the day. when we turned up the owners demaned $500 cash on the spot or we were told we would all have to leave. i was absoulutly discusted in this! we had left the place clean and tidy and we had paid for these rooms she had no right to be so rude. we ended up having to give her $100 cash then going to bed before 11pm anyway. we got up at 9 and tidyed up the last of our things. we left the place as it was when we arrived. we were served TINNED salmon and small pieces of shaved ham with eggs for breakie. we all saw the salmon tin that it came out of. to me this is discusting and totally unexeptable. we paid our bill and left. this place is not a 5 star hotel the service was discusting and the owners were very rude i would not reccommend this place to anybody

We refuse to stoop to the level that these guests have descended. You only need to read the first sentence 'me and my husband' to recognise the standards these guests are operating at, while the assertion that the salmon was 'tinned' is also a reflection on their inability to recognise quality, while the claim that the place was 'left as it was' is a sad testament to the low standards applied. The review(s) under the title of 'Wedding 2012 and Not 5 Star’ are nothing more than a collection of blatant lies, verging on the slanderous, purely designed to do nothing else than undermine our business. As with our previous management response, we leave it to travelers to make up their own mind by reading our other TripAdviser reviews for Clearview Lodge.

We unexpectedly arrived in christchurch after the weather turned bad on the west coast, we rung Sue to see if she had room for two couple's to say, when we arrive we where meet by Sue & Robyn at the most amazing Bed & breakfast I have ever seen, I come from St Ives in Cornwall so We're are use to nice places but Clearveiw is clearly something special. The Luxurious room's the Bed, internet access, the garden's the WINE, Breakfast & most of all the hospitaliy, Sue & Robyn made our short visit so wounderful.......
Thank you for the memories

We stayed at Clearview Lodge for one night at the end of our holiday and loved it - a perfect end to an awesome trip.
Our hosts were wonderful and made our stay so enjoyable with the excellent level of service. We felt so welcome ( kids and grandparents as well) and Sue went out of her way to organise our dinner and transport and was a real help. Our freshly cooked breakfast of home preserved fruit and freshly caught salmon and eggs was delicious and we were made to feel so welcome and at home, with loads of lovely conversation with our hosts. The rooms and house were luxurious and a real treat with all the trimmings ( heated floors in the bathrooms! ), there was plenty of room and we loved the gardens, the house and vineyard.
Their location was only a short distance from the airport and I would suggest them as an excellent alternative to the hustle and bustle of a city.
Thanks again for making our trip such a great time for all the family, we would highly recommend a stay at Clearview Lodge.

I stayed at Clearview Lodge for one night on a business trip. While this Lodge is probably not targeting the business travel market, it was a great alternative to a traditional business hotel. With many of the large inner city Christchurch hotels not in operation, you need to consider alternatives such as Clearview if you want quality accommodation. The location was beautiful and very quiet. The property is steaming an Olive orchard and Pinot Noir vineyard. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. A guest lounge is comfortable and free WiFi was nice to have. The hosts were very accommodating and helpful. The custom cooked breakfast was great. I just wish I had more time to relax there and I was not on my own. A great getaway for a couple

One of the most relaxing places I have stayed. Fantastic, helpful and interesting hosts. Very large warm quiet rooms and full size bathrooms. Superb locally caught smoked salmon breakfast was a highlight along with wine and port produced locally on the estate. Walk the grounds, use the pool and enjoy 25 minute proximity to the City centre.

We had a great stay at Clearview Lodge. Lovely setting with nice big large room and good ensuite. The best part was the brilliant service and welcoming hospitality. We wish we could have stayed longer and recommend it highly to anyone else.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We hope you enjoyed your golf at Clearwater Golf Resort. Don't forget to call in and give us a call, in November, if you are coming to the BMW New Zealand Golf Open.
