I feel a bit bad giving it 3/5 seeing as most are 5 and 4, and there was nothing really wrong with the place.

The proprietors are nice, things look fairly new, and everything worked as it should.

However there was no real X-factor, and little drawbacks such as the balcony being uncovered and quite narrow (really it's just a walkway but there are a couple of plastic chairs outside), no 2 or 3 seater sofa, and for both people to watch the TV straight we needed to move one of the sofachairs to the other side of the room which then partially blocks the door. I don't know if it was just our room with that layout or whether others are similar.

We would likely stay again if we needed to stay in the same area in future.

We stayed in Christchurch one night when arriving NZ and one night before leaving NZ. We are the first timer for NZ. We rent motorhome to travel to Dunedin/Queenstown/Mt.Cook, but we stayed in hotel/holiday parks as it's too cold for me and my wife to stay overnight in motorhome.
We stayed at Papanui Court the night before we left. We initially reserve 1-bedroom unit upstair, but the owner is very kind to switch us to 2 bedroom unit downstair with no extra charge (we would like to pack up for the flight and don't want to drag all our bags upstair).
The room is very spacious (even if you take the second room out of picture. Amenities are very good: microwave, small kitchen, dining table, sofa, flat screen tv, bathtub, drying towel hanger in restroom!!!!!
We park our motorhome on-site, but even if parking is full you could also park off street within 25 meters.
After staying here, I just thought I shouldn't have stayed in holiday park in the same street, which is even more expensive but much less comfortable (kiwi cabin in top 10).
Location wise, you got Northland mall with 2 supermarket chains, within 200-300 meters away.
Will definitely come back here.

We stayed for one night. The room was great value. Very clean and plenty of room. We were on the main road side of the complex and was a bit noise but not that bad over all. The host very welcoming on arrival. Although we arrived earlier that stated the only thing that disappointed us about the room was the heaters had not been turned on and the room was cold. It did not take long though to heat the room. Great motel on the outskirts of Christchurch handy to most things.

Lovely, caring manager. Motel unit provides the basics and more. Nice light, airy room with a spa and cooking facilities....and lots cheaper than the competition down the road. Serviced rooms... laundry.... we would come back without hesitation.

We stayed a couple of nights while on business in Christchurch. The Papanui Court Motel wasn't our first choice when we were browsing, but it was a great little place to stay. The hosts couldn't have been more helpful. The lady even picked us up some toast bread, butter and marmalade from the supermarket so we could make breakfast - you can't ask for better than that. The location was great too. Far enough off the main road to be quiet and yet just a short walk to bus stops and the mall. Value for money too! We would definitley stay again.

Room Tip: I think the rooms on the block furthest from the main road would be best to avoid noise. That's...

We stayed one night in a family unit, and were really pleased with the helpful personal service from the manager. The room was really warm - very pleasant on what was a cold wet day. Everything in the room was clean, modern, and in good condition. Initially, I was concerned that the room, being close to Main North Road, would be noisy. Many Christchurch motels are located right on main roads, and so some traffic noise is normal. However, we did not find it a problem. The sound proofing is quite good. In particular, the twin room that was to the rear of the unit was very quiet. If I needed accommodation in the Papanui area again, I would have no hesitation about making another booking.

Room Tip: If you are particularly sensitive to traffic noise, you might prefer a room at the rear of the compl...
