A little Gem that to be honest I shouldn't be letting all you tripadvisor readers know about, otherwise when I need to book a room it will be booked out.

This hotel is neat and tidy and in a perfect location just around the corner to Cathedral Square. I could not complain about the rooms as they are plenty big enough (not big by any stretch of the imagination), but big enough for a couple and there snow gear. The bed is huge and super comfy, with the bathroom being clean and of a good size. There was no free internet (pay only) to the rooms or in the hotel at all which I find in this day and age was disappointing.

The hotels location is superb, with so many eatery options right at the door. Surprisingly the hotel has very little outside noise so you can count on a good quiet nights sleep well in our case anyway.

This is not our first stay here and I must say with us they have a 100% record for consistency, with all 3 other times being equally fantastic.
I would recommend this hotel (and do), and would stay here again with out fail.

We stayed here for 3 nights after we arrived in NZ. Citybus took us straight to the central square, from where it was only a 2 minute walk to the hotel. It was no problem to check in early, which was very convenient. Rooms are ok in size, lots of storage space for lugage, tv, small fridge, tea making facilities and a nice bed and shower. Staff was very helpfull, and location is perfect. We didn't notice any trafficnoise, although our room was situated on the streetside. Unfortunately wireless internet was pretty expensive. Rate was ok, on average 100 nzd per night (every night was priced differently).

Typical Ibis hotel but the beds are queen size which is great.Loads of Irish themed bars ,hard to find local bars seemed to be swamped with irish style bars .If you get a room on the street side of this hotel and a high floor you get a lovely view of the mountains in the distance.

We booked here for two nights on a super special rate. We sort of knew what to expect (I think it's rated as a 3 star? and we'd stayed at Ibis many years ago). We were not disappointed. The room was fine, beds were comfortable. We paid a few dollars extra for a slightly better view onto the main street as opposed to a concrete wall.
Limited carparking is available for NZ$20, and one night when the carpark was full we were directed to a place nearby for only NZ$5.
We found the staff on the desk helpful and polite.
We found it great value for the money. There is also a self service laundry we discovered. We didn't eat at the restaurant, only had coffee from the bar which was pretty good.
Being a weekend and so close to the action there was "city noise" but the trade off for that is the very central location in the city, close to shops, restaurants etc.

I have no real complaints about our stay at this hotel, we booked two rooms for two different nights one at the beginning or our trip and one at the end.

The Plus's : Very economical, very clean and modern, had limited free wifi in lobby, very reasonable room service (if you wanted it), limited pay tv channels in excess of normal.

Small negatives, little bit of noise both from outside and through door from passageway. (No greater than most other hotels, we also stayed one friday night and faced an area with restaurants)

The location is excellent. 2 min walk from Cathedral, 5 min walk to car hire (we caught taxi to and from airport and then hired a car). Good selection of restaurants facing oxford street around corner.

We have advantage plus card so we ate at Novotel which is neary and a bit classier for meals.

Very good value for money. The rooms are very clean and modern, and the location is excellent. Very close to Cathedral square, oxford terrace restaurants and the arts centre. Only very limited parking available if driving (which alot of NZ travellers are). However, for the same price they have a deal with a public carpark around the corner that is convenient. Warning: the buffet breakfast is terrible! But overall, I would say it is good value for money.

Fantastic location right near Cathedral Square and restaurants. Comfortable, super clean rooms. Perhaps a bit on the small side but very well planned out with everything just where it should be, e.g. thermostat on the wall just beside the bed, several electrical outlets available for recharging camera batteries, etc. Room service menu the most reasonable we've ever seen. We stayed there twice during our trip, the first time in a double bed room, the second time in a king bed room. The king bed room allows for more space to walk around. We would definitely stay there again.
