Took our grandson and daughter here for a light lunch. The quantity and quality of the food and service was marvelous. The waitress provided us with excellent service and it was no problem supplying us with a jug of hot water to heat the grandsons bottle. Room enough for the baby carriage and there were several other prams etc on the premises at the same time. Plenty of entertainment provided for older children, pencils etc. Well worth a visit maybe followed by a canoe trip up the Avon river right next door.

A wonderfully old fashioned set of buildings along the Avon River which wind sits way through Christchurch. There are kayaks to lease for a time period so that you can travel up the river toward the botanical gardens as well as punting, the English form of poling folks on the river such as on the gondolas of Venice

I met some old high school friends for coffee here one morning, when recently in Christchurch. Very historic Boat Sheds that I know well from childhood that now offers a lovely open air seating area in a cafe for chatting, while people and ducks go by on the nearby river. The little footbridge over to the hospital that we loved so as children is still closed off after the earthquakes but it is still there. Very busy place as it is one of few central city coffee spots that are open. Worth waiting for a table and having someone hold it for you while the others go and get the coffee.

sit next to the river and watch ducks swimming by or the occasional canoes, punting activities. Good food and pleasant views. Well, most of the staff were excellent, only perhaps 1 or 2 weirdly starring as i was leaving. Don't do that, OK. The canoeing was really fun, straight into the botanical gardens in Christchurch.
