“Comfortable, spacious apartment. Odd route to parking.”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

We found our apartment to be spacious, comfortable, and well-maintained. The view was OK - mostly of post-earthquake construction, but other reviews make it clear that views vary greatly depending on the room. Minimal front desk service and availability, but not uncommon for an apartment facility as opposed to a hotel. One odd thing: we parked where assigned, but then had to haul our luggage down an exterior flights of stairs (in the rain) to enter an elevator lobby to get to our room. Inconvenient and irritating.

Room Tip: Ask focused questions about what kind of view you will have from your room..

Excellent Value for your money. Right in the centre of Christchurch. Close to everything but still quiet and very private with amazing views across to the snow covered mountains. The apartments are very modern with a great little kitchen so you can cook your own meals if you want.
The bedrooms are large with big windows so you can lay in bed and soak up the views. The living area has a big screen TV and sliding doors that open onto the balcony. The apartment has its own washing machine and dryer and has complimentary undercover secure parking. The beds are big, warm and very comfortable and the staff are so friendly and helpful they go above and beyond their call of duty. And only one block from the casino where you can get great food at amazingly cheap prices.
You'd expect to pay heaps more for this place than what it will actually cost (and you'd be happy to). I will definitely be staying here again if I'm back in Christchurch and I highly recommend it!

We stayed here for 2 nights in June 14. The apartment was excellent, we had the view of the city. It was complete with everything even laundry. It is not cleaned everyday, so we had to take care of that ourselves. The internet and heater was good. Private parking allocated. Just that hot water can be a bit of problem in the morning. We arrived on Sunday, so the receptionist was not available at that time. They only work during office hours but you can call the NZ apartments service centre for assistance. Overall it was a superb place to stay.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and while we were generally very satisfied with the room there is so much to improve in terms of service.

We got a room on the 6th floor which faced out onto the street, not much happening around the area so we weren't bothered by any noise and once you close the doors you can't hear much anyway. The apartments are very spacious and the kitchen well equipped with utensils and the beds are comfy and generally very clean...While the apartments are in the city centre they aren't actually close to anything... 15-20 minute walk to the closest supermarket, not even a convenience store nearby, 15 minutes to the re:start mall and the old cathedral, 10 minutes to hagley park.

Of concern was the massive crack in the corner of the main bedroom...obviously while I can certainly appreciate the history of Christchurch seeing that crack in the corner was a bit of a concern!

Now this bit really irks me, when we arrived we were supplied with 2 shampoos, 1 bottle of body wash, 4 towels, 1 dishwashing sachet and 1 laundry sachet for 5 people for 2 days...realistically that just doesn't make sense...what are we meant to do, share towels and spilt the shampoo by using only a small dot each?? Upon bringing it up with reception they said I could purchase extra stuff...but really this should be provided to guests, do they expect their guests to lug around dishwashing liquid and toilet paper with them? I've stayed in serviced apartments before and regardless of how long I stay I am always provided with adequate dishwashing liquid, shampoo, body wash for the duration of my stay... I made a comment to reception while the cleaner was there about the 2 shampoo and 1 body wash for 5 people and she said "well that's standard but I can give you more"... very very strange.

For the price you pay, the location and the service you get... it's not really worth it. I'd probably go somewhere else next time there are better places that don't require you to bring your own toilet paper and dishwashing liquid with you.

At first glance the apartment seemed nice. But once settled in we realized the windows opened into the parking garage and the apartment was stuffy. No way to get fresh air. Then we couldn't turn on one of the lamps on the nightstand. There was no way to plug it in--no outlet. Was it just for show? So I couldn't read in bed. There was a washer and dryer--nice, right? But the dryer wouldn't work unless you held the door in. I rigged it to stay closed with the ironing board, but don't know if that will keep it on for long. Also, don't bother to pay the $10 for the internet. It's so slow after 1/2 hour I have up getting my iPad to open even one page. Shower a bit yucky and crummy toiletries. Again, the Quest is a few blocks away and if it's anything like the one in Auckland, it's a much better bet.

Hi, Thank you for the feedback. If there are any issues it is always advisable to notify Reception or the Manager during your stay as sometimes things do unfortunately breakdown. We have therefore had the Dryer serviced and repaired and thank you for bringing this to our attention. The lamp we have now plugged in as there is a double plug unit and multi board behind the bed. The internet again is a quick fix and can be reset if this ever happens and I understand you were not charged for the inconvenience or the late check out. We feel our prices reflect good value for money as the Quest have recently been refurbished and once ours are done we would welcome you back for a second opinion.

The West Fitzroy apartment was a great place to stay in Christchurch. It is centrally located and within walking distance of the Canterbury Museum and university. The apartment was spacious, clean and well stocked with cooking utensils and the queen bed was comfortable. Free parking was a plus and the garage was secured with a gate at night. The only downside was that wi-fi was not free.

Room Tip: Stay on 7th floor or above. There is a lot of construction going on to rebuild Christchurch but we...

The apartment was lovely and very well situated. The facilities were great and the location is right next to the botanical gardens. Christchurch is still devastated but getting back to normal. I can recommend the Harlequin where we had the most amazing meal and these apartments are just what you need if travelling around.
