This was a great b&b with only a handful of rooms. The location is great - the pub next door is lively and serves great food and it's an easy 15-20 minute walk into the city center. We stayed in the Canterbury room - very spacious with a nice patio leading out to a pretty garden area.

We eat here every time we visit Christchurch. It's a typical pub restaurant. Hearty food, great beer and wine served with a smile. Steve Pomeroy, mine host, makes the place. The also brew some of the beer themselves. If you're looking for accommodation nearby, their B & B is next door. Handy after a typical night at Pomeroys. And the beds are warm and cosy.

my family and i had a very nice two days here. its a lovely little b&b and the staff is very, very friendly and informative. we stayed in the avon room, which had a queen and a single bed. lots of towels and soaps and shampoos in the ensuite bathroom. there is a communal breakfast area with fruits, cereals, bread, honey, jam, cereals, dried fruits, fresh bread where you help yourself in the mornings.everything presented with love.next to the place is a lovely and lively pub with great atmosphere. same owners. every guest gets a voucher for a beer or wine. the people who run the b&b are absolutely generous and kind. that made this place even prettier!

Our experience here set the stage for a great stay in Christchurch and became the litmus test for food and lodging during the rest of our three-week NZ trip. As others have noted, the location is ideal - an easy walk into the (rather depressing) Christchurch CBD and then onto the beautiful botanical gardens. Very friendly owners who make sure everything is shipshape and the kitchen is stocked for breakfast and snacks all day. The rooms are wonderful; updated and modern but still retaining the charm of the original historic building. Don't worry about noise coming from the pub. For whatever reason, it was very quiet even though you're right next door to a (incredible) pub. The pub, also owned by the innkeepers, is outstanding. An impressive array of craft beers from Christchurch and across NZ and a respectable wine list that also shows off NZ's best. The food was delicious too; "gastro pub grub" using the freshest ingredients and assembled with care. Turned out to be the best fish and chips we had in three weeks (and we know our F&C!) The smoked salmon salad also set the standard for the rest of our time in country. When we were there the weather was beautiful, so we could enjoy the cheery atmosphere of the garden and later retire into the very Englishy pub feel of the interior to listen to excellent live music. All this on a Sunday night!!

We loved our stay at Pomeroy's. The rooms are beautifully presented and decorated and it was lovely to have our breakfast in the breakfast room with the big table and complimentary newspapers. The owners were also very welcoming and accommodating, allowing us to leave our bags for the day after we've checked out. An added bonus of staying here was the fantastic pub next door - a great atmosphere, drinks menu and fabulous food! Very good value and one of the best places we stayed in New Zealand.

We stayed for 3 nights. The pub is only a 15 minute walk from the centre of Christchurch. The room was very comfortable and well furnished, and quiet - not withstanding being next to the pub. Excellent continental breakfast, and drinks you could help yourself to at any time of the day. The breakfast room had a good selection of guides - a thoughtful touch. Free and easy to access Wi-Fi. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Amazing choice of craft beers in the pub, with a good choice menu. the food was excellent value, well cooked and presented. A bonus is the eclectic range of live music on a number of nights. A really good value B&B to which we would return to again if visiting Christchurch
