We had a party of 7 and stayed in the studio suite on the 3rd floor. No elevators. Walked 3 flights of stairs with all my bags!!! Light bulb in bathroom kept blowing. Toilet flush did not work. Dish washer kept breaking down. Dryer was a RIP OFF$$$$ at $2/10 mins!!!! You'll be broke coz the dryer vent is probably all plugged up too. Housekeeping was a laugh. Did not even clear the garbage or vacuum the rooms. High speed internet wasn't even free after all we paid for the room. AVOID AT ALL COST.

Its a shame to see a couple of bad comments on this great Motel. The breakfast is actually quite good value; fresh fruit, yoghurt, museli and toast ect - you choose what you want and they deliver it up to your room the evening before. If you dont need the breakfast, you are still provided with all the usual free bees like milk, tea, plunger coffee plus Sky TV and DVDs. I would't go to a motel and expect the guest laundry to be free just because its listed under the facilities on the website!
From my experience this place knows hospitality and they don't overcharge for what they offer.

We stayed at thr Commodore for two nights on February 2010.
The motel is average regarding the rooms BUT it is located on the main entrace road to Dunedin and it is VERY noisy ALL night. The big trucks was making a lot of noise and it was almost impossible to sleap.
If you have to stay there ask for an inside room

The room was fine -- clean, comfy, spacious. Bed fair. Location good. But it was our only accommodation during an otherwise marvelous 32-day tour of New Zealand where we felt overcharged and underserved. They not only advertised breakfast as "included" with the tariff, but reacted with downright hostility when we questioned their demand that we pay extra for it.(I say "hostility" because the front-desk manager pursued me across the parking lot and demanded that I show him where on their website it said that breakfast is included. When I showed him-- In a subsequent exchange of e-mails -- he responded that "included" only means "available." Our credit-card issuer later honored our challenge to the charge. The amount in question was small (US$14.70), but the principle is huge, and this property plainly doesn't do hospitality.

I recently stayed at the Commodore Motel, Dunedin while on an athletics tour with 15 teenage athletes. I was very impressed with the motel from the moment I first contacted them. The owners / managers were extremely friendly and very welcoming.

They were able to easily accommodate our group booking, which involved 4 - 5 person in each room (4 rooms total). The rooms were very reasonably priced and extremely spacious. Each room had it's own kitchen facilities and a good sized bathroom.

As we had an early check out, the owners/managers were happy to accommodate our breakfast request and delivered enough food to our rooms the night before.

The motel is close enough to drive into the city, but far enough out that you don't get all the city noise. There are also a number of smaller shopping / food areas closeby.

Parking was a little tricky with 2 mini vans, but lucky for us the carpark wasn't full overnight so there was enough room for us. If you are travelling with normal size cars, you won't have any problems.

Overall, a very positive experience at the Commodore Motel. I would highly recommend this motel to anyone, particularly those travelling with families or groups.
