Of all the places we stayed while in NZ, this had the most character by far. A quirky (in a good way) lodge out on the Otago peninsula by Dunedin, this lodge features stunning views of the harbor from the large windows in the comfortable lounge area. The rooms are comfortable, but lacking in power outlets. Very friendly and easy going staff. Heads up if you are arriving late -- there isn't much around the lodge so take care of any business you have while in Dunedin before you head out onto the Otago peninsula. My shower was rather cold, but my girlfriend had a hot one, so maybe I just timed it wrong.
We are an easy-going couple from the US in our late-twenties who have traveled a good many miles through the world, with experience staying in everything from campgrounds to big hostels to small B&Bs to five star hotels.More
