Great accommodation and staff. Managers were very warm and helpful - they assisted us greatly with travel advice. Rooms very modern and clean. Easy parking. Walking distance to town. Dunedin is a great city to explore. Plenty for the kids to do. Highly recommended!

We stayed at Dunedin Palms for 2 nights on our visit to Dunedin. We stayed at the room with jacuzzi spa. Its quite good value for what you get.

The motel is clean, has modern interiors and big comfy bed. It also has 2 Tvs and provide a DVD player in the room, as well as kitchenette with microwave. The owner is quite friendly, and always ready to help you if you need any assistance.

The location of the motel is abit far to the city, its walking distance but it will be around 20 mins, its just in the outskirt of CBD and main shopping area, of course this would not be a problem if you have a car. The Otago museum and Chinese garden are in the vicinity but I would recommend a car to visit these places.

The outdoor jacuzzi is in the front yard and I would say its semi private. The unit above can see into the jacuzzi and its next to the bin room where cleaner constantly goes in and out. The jacuzzi is spacious but hard to work it out, sometime it comes on automatically at night and the humming noise might disturb other guest. But its a nice touch and handy to have after long day of driving.

The motel suffers from noise issue, we could hear people running around in the unit above us all day and night, might be better to ask for upper floor rather than unit on the ground floor.

Overall great stay, but I love to try on other places when visiting Dunedin again

From the outside dunedin palms looks like your average roadside variety motel - but looks are deceptive because in reality it is modern, clean & well run.
The location is just out of the town CBD (a ten minute walk to the centre) & was easy to find. The owners are friendly & helpful.
As promised, our unit had a jacuzzi in the (almost private) courtyard which was relaxing after the long days driving.
Also on the posative side it had a seperate bedroom with a big comfy bed & pillows, lounge with kitchenette including a microwave & coffee plunger & a big 2 person shower with nice toiletries. Also the WiFi was cheap @ $10 for 24 hours - but a bit slow.
On the negative was that the unit above was occupied by a herd of elephants (sound proofing is a problem), car parking was all on funny angles (an insurers nightmare), there was no air con (although we didn't miss it too much when we stayed) & not only was there no view - but there was also no privacy from the bedroom window.

we stayed for a wedding with 2 teenage girls for the weekend...the Managers were very friendly and helpful.
We had a small issue with the dvd which was replaced in a flash.
Rooms are clean and well equipped... Love having a selection of glasses for wine or water.
only issue if staying for longer was the rooms are small so no room for suitcases.
As we were all getting ready for the wedding at the same time found it a tad difficult not having a mirror in the bedrooms.
lovely stay and would stay again. thank you

Room Tip: no lift so if you have an issue with stairs ask for ground level rooms.

The motel is close to shops and restaurants with modern décor and plenty of parking.

On the downside, the studio room I stayed in, 221, has the fuse box above the bed and it hummed all night long. I could hear what the neighbours were doing and being on the second floor and a tilt slab construction, I could also hear people stomping around. One of the three ceiling lights has a different colour lamp, yes, its a small thing but its detail people like me that notice. The drawer in the vanity catches on the plumbing when opened. Instructions said that Iron was located in drawer of the luggage holder where in fact it was under the sink. Floor squeaks when walk on it so hope downstairs didn't hear it.

On the upside, very clean and tidy. Continental breakfast was supplied the night before so I could have it when I wanted, nice touch. Desk and chair good height and comfortable. Shower good pressure. One of the few motels/hotels I have stayed in where the image on the TV actually fits and is not outside the sides. Overall nice motel.

Room Tip: Suggest getting a unit away from the road. It is double glazed but still nosey.
