Wow!!! had no idea there was tropical paradise in the heart of Dunedin ... everything for everyone to be intrigued by ...then more when walking thr discovery world into the butterfly house ... jaw dropping and so visually stunning ...if you go at feeding time you even have the pleasure of butterflys landing on you ...keeps the children(young and old) fanasinated for hours .. not for the fainted hearted a glass swing bridge across the top of a gorgeous waterfall.... spend the day it is so totally captivating and will entertain all ages....

Saw the sign outside "hottest attraction in town" and it was great. We loved the butterflies, the plantings, the birds and even spotted a little green gecko in the rainforest. So nice to shed some layers while in the tropical rain forest and how cool to have butterflies fluttering everywhere.

The kids enjoyed the discovery centre and it's great you are able to leave and return on a day pass.

If you need a place to shelter from the weather or in my case thaw out, then a visit to the butterflies is well worth it.

We ran out of time to check out the rest of the museum - we'll have to do that next time.

we went to see the release of the new butterflies on a Sunday morning and were amazed! Walking through the Discovery Zone, the kids had a blast and the look on their faces when the butterflies landed on them was worth their weight in gold :)

A great museum. Enjoyed the discovery centre and the photography exhibition. Cafe and shop good. Make sure you explore upstairs too!

We visited the Otago Museum specifically to see the Butterfly exhibition and were not disappointed. We spent a few hours pleasantly watching the butterflies flying around and going about their daily routines. Great opportunity to photograph up close as they have no fear and quite often land on you to have a rest. We were mesmerised
