Impressed with the special exhibit on WWI. Overall a very good museum since the recent overhaul. A must see for locals and visitors.

“Awesome”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

The staff were friendly and informative. The new facilities awesome. It was very easy to access as I was with my son who was in a wheelchair. I bought a coffee not too good and food a little dry.

“So much to see. Interactive and very well done.”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

We were not really that keen on visiting the museum but it was cold and snowy outside and the museum was free!
However, it was really good. Lots of information very well presented. Lots to see and interactive things to do. Really brilliant way to spend a good few hours. Would definitely recommend.

“Toitu”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

We really enjoyed this free museum and archive.
The most outstanding feature is the way the exhibits were displayed. It's done in a way that you are not overwhelmed with realia.
Each section was presented in a different style and there were some interactive exhibits.
Some favourite areas were: the room with photographs of the early settlers, the recreation of the settler house and the garment and textile collection.
We spent a few hours here but if you lived in Dunedin you would visit often.

“Worth a visit”

Lots of stuff that interested us. We enjoyed being allowed on a penny farthing. Liked the colonial cottage set up that was hands on for the kids.
