Description: Hi and welcome to Customhouse. We are here to help you have a great time here in Dunedin. First and foremost we are a casual, contemporary, cafe, restaurant and bar situated right on the water at Customhouse Quay. Great waterfront location; heritage building, enhanced with a modern feel; fresh, local flavours that won't leave you hungry; and truly good service - knowledgeable about what we offer, and our place in Dunedin, friendly, flexible and authentic. Our objective is that you make Customhouse one of your favourite places - it's up to you to decide what for. It could be your favourite place to catch up for coffee with a friend; your favourite place for a great steak off the grill and a cracking Aussie Shiraz or an earthy Central Otago Pinot Noir; your favourite place for bacon and eggs at the weekend with the family; or your favourite place for a celebration, whether it is with family and friends, or with work colleagues. We are open seven days and seven nights.During the day we have a brunch / lunch menu that includes fresh, local ingredients. Alternatively you can stop in for coffee and something from our cabinet that has a range of muffins, slices and cakes. Our evening menu features largely Otago produce including venison, a range of seafood, steaks as well as a number of well balanced lighter dishes. Fresh, local flavours that won't leave you hungry! Our bar area is perfect for that civilised drink - whether it be a nice Pinot Gris, a Cosmopolitan, or a local beer on tap.We are well set up to cater for work functions, weddings, Christmas functions or any excuse for a party that you may have. Our clients say we are flexible and will work with you to hit the button so to speak with respect to style, food, and budget. We can seat up to 200 but also have the ability to spill out onto the Quay or our outdoor area if needed! You can choose the style that best suits you. Sit down, stand up, mix and mingle, canapes or a set menu. We can also arrange entertainment or a cruise on the harbour before or after your meal - Beautiful!

“Fantastic Food and Service”
Reviewed 19 March 2014

We had a fantastic meal here last week down at the wharf overlooking the sea. The lady that served us could not have more friendly and helpful. She along the fantastic new menu made it a very enjoyable evening. I have already spread the word and some friends of ours will be heading there very soon. Congratulations Chef, management and staff for a first rate night. We will be returning

Reviewed 12 March 2014

good food reasonable menu but you have to try the dessert especially the chocolate éclair if you still have room it was enormous. Great surroundings in a beautiful old building on the waterfront

“good food and interesting location”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

The food was good, if not outstanding and the service was very good. The location on the old wharf and history of the buildings adds interest. Convenient if you are doing the full day Monarch Otago trip.

“Gorgeous view.... mediocre food”
Reviewed 27 February 2014

Ate here on a random whim
we expected a not so cheap meal due to the view and the ambiance - however $32 for basically fish and chips is damn expensive.
Hubby had steak and said it was just OK

Service was slow - to be fair only the one waitress and it was a busy night
She was lovely and apologized for the delays

The view was stunning out over the harbor

“Brilliant lunch venue”
Reviewed 25 January 2014

We stumbled on the customhouse cafe-restaurant after walking around the area. We sat at the enclosed "sun porch" type area of thebuilding, the view of the water was nice but the rest rooms were right up the other end.

The food was scrumptious especially the brunch menu, the bacon was so delicious, cooked just right.

Will definitely go there again. Worth seeking this place out.
