I enjoyed a large rare beef pho soup and fresh spring rolls for lunch at Saigon Van, and was extremely impressed by the experience! My pho was perfectly seasoned with vegetables that were all extremely fresh and a big portion of nice beef. The fresh rice paper spring rolls with pulled pork were very enjoyable.

The restaurant has fresh and contemporary decor with dine-in or take-away service at very reasonable prices. They are open for limited lunch service during the week and every night for dinner. My meal with a drink was under $20 at lunch, which I thought was a bargain with the portion sizes.

I'll definitely be back! Check this place out.

We tried this restaurant after reading many good reviews. And it has not failed us! We ordered the set menu for 4 to have a try of their best dishes and finished dinner with a really full stomach. All dishes, from appetizers to mains, were excellent.

Had an evening meal here. Our group had a number of clay pot dishes and a rice noodle salad. Service was OK - had some trouble getting waiter's attention at times. The cooking was good but portions were definitely on the small side. Authencity was present in flavours but they do not provide the usual garnishes (bean sprouts, lemon wedges and Vietnamese mint). Also disappointing were the clay pot dishes. Normally clay pot implies the dish has been cooked in the actual clay pot which imbues it with a special flavour. Instead the clay pots were just the serving vessels so the dishes were just ordinary. Overall expensive for Vietnamese, if portions were larger then it might be OK value.

So simple but yet so tasty. I took 3 teenagers here last night and we ordered the set menu for four so we could try different things. We loved every dish, the flavours were amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful and told us what each dish was as they served. My husband is jealous so will have to take him there next time we're in Dunedin together. The teenagers are raving about the meal still!!

We stumbled upon this after a few beers and found the food to be absolutely yummy. It's not your usual cheapo vietnamese shack, this is a proper restaurant.. with table cloths and wall paper. Prices were as expected but well worth it. As the title reads, best vietnamese we've had so far in NZ.

Thank Shan W
