St Leonards Lodge
Reviewed 22 March 2014

We had two extremely pleasant nights at St Leonards Lodge, and congratulated ourselves on having made such a perfect choice for our Dunedin accommodation. But the real congratulations must go to Sue and Dean - they have nailed it! The lodge is so tastefully decorated, faithfully and sympathetically recreating the splendour and elegance of its earlier place in Dunedin's early 20th century history. Breakfast was nothing short of stunning, delivered to our room and presented in such an elegant fashion. We have a feeling that our abiding very positive sense of Dunedin is largely due to St Leonards Lodge. Thanks guys.

Room Tip: Our room, the Pukeko, Room overlooked the harbour and couldn't have been any better positioned...

We sadly only stayed 2 nights at the Tui house which is adjacent to the main house and very private, and would have loved to continue our stay, quality in every corner of this beautifully presented accommodation. The breakfasts were divine. The beds fantastic with the best linen. A bonus snooker table in the main house. Excellent service all round. Listen to Sue when she recommends places for dinner, I didn't and had a disaster, but Sue knows where to go. Great views over the harbour, quiet and countryfied, but only 5 minutes to town centre.

We stayed for 2 nights and loved this place and the hosts (Sue and Dean) are the best. This is a warm and comfortable place with great breakfasts and a really nice location a few kilometers away from the hustle and bustle of downtown (it looks over towards the Peninsular and Larnach Castle). It is also and ideal location to access Forsyth Stadium.

The room we had (Kiwi Room) was large and spacious with in-suite soaking tub etc. The lodge has a lovely billiard and games room and a cosy TV/reading room. Very appealing on wet and windy nights.

We will return (and hopefully have better weather next time.....

We stayed a couple of nights at St Leonards Lodge and found it to be a great base for our visit to Dunedin. It is only a 5 minutes drive from the city centre, and you are surrounded by well tended gardens, staying in gorgeous buildings, waking up by the sound of the birds.
The room was very spacious, tastefully decorated, with a huge bathtub for a relaxing soak.
The hosts, Sue and Dean are lovely people, very helpful in suggesting dining out options.
We would stay again anytime. Highly recommended.
