Stayed in a top floor room. The view of the city and church was great. However, the room itself was rather disappointing and plain and didnt have the "boutique" touch. But in fairness, the room was large and had a nice balcony. The building itself used to be a friars lodge and has some charm, but the room itself lacked character and attention to detail. So if you are looking for a no frills stay with a great view in Dunedin this could be the place for you.

The Brothers Boutique Hotel was our favourite during our 11 day stay on the South Island. We initially stayed for 2 nights after arriving from Brisbane, and then just had to stay there again on our way home the following week. Rod is a fantastic host, the rooms are spotlessly clean, and the views are wonderful. The sitting room is really special, big windows let in plenty of light, even on an overcast day. It's a great place to enjoy a glass of wine while swapping stories with fellow travellers. Rod has great knowledge of the local area and his restaurant recommendations were much appreciated. The central location is a bonus. Many thanks for your wonderful hospitality.

Dunedin is a wonderful place to visit in the South Island of New Zealand, but the only thing I had been missing was a regular hotel to stay at. Thanks god I have found it. Well managed, beautiful historic building and a wonderful host.
Look forward to seeing you again.

We traveled from Queenstown to Dunedin for surgery at Mercy Hospital. The Location is only 5 minute drive to the Hospital and 5 minute walk into town. which made it a perfect choice for the purpose of our trip. The views from the top level are stunning. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are big and the decoration quite simple. at least, the one we stayed in. I would say spartan. Some of the other rooms have more character. The TV in the bedroom is too small I must say.

Travellers looking for a cookie cutter, mundane hotel, should not consider The Brothers. This is a lovingly and elegantly restored building with a charming and helpful host. Centrally located, it is a quick walk to wonderful restaurants and the postcard pretty railway station.
