Me and my girlfriend Ailing, love Bed and Breakfast Places and we were very fortunate to have picked "McAuley Glen Boutique Bed & Breakfast" while visiting the Otago Peninsula in Dec 2013. Our hosts Mary and Patrick were very warm hosts and they made us feel very welcome during our 2 nights stay at their home. They provided a lot of good advise about where to go and what to see in Dunedin and very readily helped us made arrangements as were necessary. The breakfasts that Mary makes are a highlight in itself too and is something to look forward to every morning. You get not only tasty breakfast and I recall even telling Mary that she has to cut down on the size of her servings if she's going to make money from her B&B. The room we stayed in was on the first floor and it's very cozy. The room we had was spacious allowing ample space for our big luggages. Bathroom floor was heated which was quite a treat given that it was still cold when we visited New Zealand, in what was supposed to be summer conditions.

I strongly recommend for people coming to Dunedin to stay at McAuley Glen Boutique B&B for the warm hosts, good food, comfortable rooms and close proximity to the wild life attractions on the Otago Peninsula.

I remember with great pleasure the three days of last november that I had the opportunity to enjoy the splendid hospitality that I was favored by Mary y Pat, hosts of that beautiful garden and hotel in Portobello, Dunedin, in the Southern island of New Zealand.
I express my most felt gratitude for their finest attentions and their great company in the excellent tours that they organized.
Sincerely, Jose Sancho

Lovely, comfortable room - a lot of effort has been made to make it special. Very accommodating, helpful and friendly hosts, helped us book a couple of local trips to see the wildlife. Breakfasts were like a feast!

Room Tip: With only two to choose from, it would depend on how many people - we were in Lauralie room which ha...

We loved our two nights at McAuley Glen. Mary was so attentive, feeding us tea and treats when we arrived and showing us her beautiful gardens, and our lovely room. We really enjoyed our stay on the Otago Peninsula, and this was such a good location to be based for the wildlife activities we wanted to do - some of which Mary booked for us and gave us advice on. We took advantage of the hot tub which was wonderful, and such a romantic setting in the gardens. Perfect as we were on honeymoon. The breakfasts that Mary makes are just amazing, so original and fantastic quality of food. We would defintely stay here again if we are ever in this stunning area of NZ again.

Mary and Pat are great hosts, they know the area very well and will help with any problem that you have. We stayed at the Lauralie suite and it was big and comfortable. It has glasses and all the basics for you to be able to have a nice wine and dinner in your room or in the garden at night. They also have a very nice hot pool, lovely to finish the day.
My recommendation is to have a late breakfast and forget about lunch, the breakfast changes dayly and we had hotcakes with berries, fruit, yoghurt, granola, egg omellette, brown and white toast, home made jams, quiches, just everything you can think of and all delicious!
The location is great for going to see the penguins and albatroces as well as for walks and nature. It is about 40 min to the airport and a bit outside Dunedin. You do need a car!
