Welcomed with a friendly greeting, provided with jackets so our clothes remained clean and then off on a vehicle to experience some breath taking scenery.
We were taken on an 8 wheel drive buggy trek for an hour by Perry Dundee Reid, the owner, a farmer and an avid conservationist. Along with his son and all the boys he used as drivers. We arrived at the same time as a tour bus which set the scene. It was 1 of the best tours we have been on. The knowledge and manners from all these people was outstanding.
Thankyou guy's and the young lady at the desk.

Thank Ross W

Welcomed with a friendly greeting, provided with jackets so our clothes remained clean and then off on a vehicle to experience some breath taking scenery, a colony of NZ Fur seals and then penguin spotting accompanied by a really friendly & knowledgeable guide. Well worth the drive out of Dunedin

Nature's Own is located on a family farm at the tip of the Otago Peninsular, a pleasant 40 minute drive from downtown Dunedin.

Our 14 year old son is a nature lover and this visit was his highlight of a brilliant visit to a spectacular country. We were taken on an 8 wheel drive Banana Splits buggy trek for an hour by Perry, the owner, a farmer and an avid conservationist. He has built "hides" at a number of locations on the farm from where we observed yellow eyed penguins in the dunes above one of his beaches, blue penguins and dozens of New Zealand Fur Seals at very close quarters.

we arrived on the farm to be greeted by the familywho own and run the cafe, farm and eco tour. We were ushered into the cafe ( through the gift shop). From there we were escorted to the shearing shed where we were given a demonstration of shearing, and an explaination of the wonders of natural fibres. Yes there is a strong mes, sage here, but one given from the point of view of honest belief and done with down to earth enthusiasm. Back to the cafe for a very nice meal and then out onto the Argos". Argos are an 8 wheel drive all terrain vehicle, which is the ideal ( if somewhat bumpy, way to get round the property. Off down to see the sealions and their pups - no touching please, even if the pups walk up to you ( and they may). Then off to the beach where yellow eyed penguins nest. It was moulting season so the normally solitary penguins are a little harder to see, and very scruffy when you finially do spot them ( there is help provided - and you'll need it). Everything was presented with a underlying ecological subtext, but with the farm being part of a fragile natural wonderland that requires constant vigulance against introduced preditors you can understand why. Oh, and the argo trip alone is worth it, the rest is icing on a really nice cake.

An informative and adventurous ride into the habitat of the seals and penguins of the Otago Penninsula. Happened on to this experience when we drove out to the Albatross Center but it was closed and so we continued up the hill. Came back a little bit muddy but with big smiles. Also like the ecotourism practiced by this company.
