“Modern and well equipped”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

The Bluestone is a very new, modern and well appointed hotel. The room was a very good size with lounge chairs, king bed, washing machine and a kitchenette. For long stays a full kitchen would be more useful. The large spa bath is very good, however those with shorter legs need to be careful getting in and out of the bath to use the shower, as its quite deep. There is a very good lounge area off reception, with a limited supply of drinks and food (to be purchased). There was no room service but lots of information as to nearby restaurant and an arrangement for billing back to your room from one. The bed was excellent and a range of different pillows are on offer, so a good nights sleep wasn't a problem. The only negative was on the last night the residents of house next door got very noisy during the evening up to about midnight. The hotel itself was very quiet.

Likes
- very modern and clean
- pleasant staff
- extremely good level of fixtures
- good size rooms

Dislikes
- noisy neighbour one night (not hotels fault)
- would have liked a full kitchen

Room Tip: The top floor has a nice views of the city.

Very nicely equipped room, short walk away from the centre of Dunedin. We were very warmly welcomed, and really impressed with the facilities, like a washing machine in the apartment. It did feel like the building was surrounded by student accommodation, partying until 4am wasn't funny, but it was dealt with by the management.

I recently spent a month in New Zealand for work and these apartments were the best that I stayed in during this trip. Friendly staff, impressive rooms with great views. Would recommend it to anyone who wants a bit of luxury while they are in Dunedin.

The one thing that amazes me the most is the attention to detail paid by the managers of the hotel. On top of that, the design of the room is awesome, donned with an array of stainless steel furniture , well-placed LED lights and glass.

Whilst I had high expectations based on Trip Advisor reviews, this property exceeded those. This was perhaps the cleanest hotel room and property that I have experienced and I add, I do not normally pay strict attention to cleanliness at hotels I visit. But here, I was overwhelmed by the cleanliness of well designed and furnished rooms. I will go back. Unless some of the facilities of a cityhotel are required, I would not hesitate to stay here again. Cafes are within walking distance for a good breakfast. The bed was SO comfortable too.

This plush upmarket B and B is right in the heart of Dunedin’s main street and is easy to find. From the moment you walk through the front door you’ll know you are in the right place. It’s like stepping into a page of Vogue Living. It’s new, fresh, clean and classy. The rooms are uniquely decorated to the highest standard with the very best of fabrics, plush towels and pillows. Accessorised beautifully and finished with the very finest cosmetics in the bathroom. The bluestone colour scheme is simply stunning. The rooms are light filled, comfortable with a super big bathroom and oversized spa bath. The balconies are quaint and offer a beautiful view over Dunedin. The kitchenette would be great for a longer stay and was fully stocked with everything you’d need including a full mini bar. The reception staff ( husband and wife managing couple I suspect) were extremely helpful with restaurant options, holding baggage and booking our airport shuttle collection, which incidentally is $20 NZ per person. The service is good and comes right to the front door. (It’s either shuttle or a $70 taxi fare to airport which is around 35mins away) The car park is just 5 metres from reception also. You can walk everywhere from this most central address. My only regret was, that we were only there 3 nights. Dunedin’s City Centre has many many great restaurants and cafes, all of which we sampled. It’s a fun city although nights were really cold so bring your woolies. Shopping was brilliant, and we enjoyed having the car and being able to get out of town. I loved walking the Botanical Gardens also.
Can’t imagine there’s any better address than this place. Would highly recommend, its really beautiful and smells so good too, the minute the doors open at reception. A 10 out of 10 for our perfect stay!!!!!
