Our first meal in this restaurant in Dunedin and we were more than happy with the meal and the service. After a short wait we were seated at a large table which was maybe a little too high for the fixed seating. However as I am 1.9 metres tall, it was not as bad as it would be for someone a bit shorter.
We were quickly offered menus and drinks and left to make our decisions, I ordered a lager and was offered Speights and thinking the waitress meant Speights lager said OK. However what arrived was Speights Ale - maybe too noisy for either the waitress or myself to hear the other properly.
When we made our choices, the manager (as we found out later) came over and gave us the history of the restaurant and franchise. Really interesting to hear his story.
The meal arrived relatively quickly and our two soups were fine. Just before we finished the soup, the manager came over again and asked if we were ready for our main course to be cooked. Then some time later came over and said 4 minutes till arrival of the main. He was pretty close too!
All in all a pleasant evening meal which did not smack of "food to a pattern" as you so often get in chain restaurant. The personal touch by the manager was good and the comments from the waitress about the courses we chose were appreciated.
Good value for money -good sized meals and well cooked food.
