This was our second time staying at Safari Lodge and once again we had a memorable experience. This is truly the best accommodation we've found in Southland NZ.

As good as this home looks in pictures, you'll still be impressed when you walk through the front door.
Everything you'll need for your stay is there. Plenty of pillows and blankets, plenty of hot water and plenty of towels. The spa bath was lovely and great to "chill in". The Winter family treated us like part of the family and we felt very welcome. We'd definitely go back there if again in Invercargill.

All of the rooms are unique in their own way. If it's an off peak period ask to have a look around first so you can take your pick.

It is an experience like no other. There's so many features to enjoy (incl an amazing spa room) and the owners are only obliging (never in your face).. Makes for a great get away in an unlikely city!

The real estate salesperson said the house was only worth demolishing when he sold it to our hosts 22 years ago. How wrong he was because now it is presented to guests as the perfect chance to act lord and master of a Victorian style mansion, in the luxurious circumstances we all deserve.
I enjoyed the statuary and South African theme. I admired the ability of Ray and Trish to let us do our own thing yet be there when we wanted service. I loved the food.
We will be back and next time I won't let Ray beat me on the billiard table.

We stumbled upon the safari lodge during a hail shower and what a find. The hosts Trish & Ray are absolutely lovely, so helpful and couldn't do anymore for you. We stayed in the leopard room, it had a beautiful four poster bed that was so comfortable, the room decor and the decor of the whole house in fact reflects the hosts time in South Africa. The accommodation is really homely, the breakfast is hearty and there is a spa, billards table and big tv room to be enjoyed. We would highly reccommend that you stay here if in the area, we were only meant to stay one night but stayed the second night as it was so relaxing.

Had a great time at the Safari Lodge. The owners were so accommodating and catered to our every whim. We really enjoyed the friendlyness and the overwhelming welcoming from Trish and Ray into their magnificent home. Ray even organized and escorted my husband on a fishing trip which he enjoyed immensaly. They truly made our stay in the deep south a pleasurable visit.

We stayed at Safari Lodge (in the Leopard Room) for 3 nights and absolutely loved it.

The home has been restored to the grandeur of the 1800's yet with modern facilities. The best of both world's! It's obviously been a labour of love for the owners Ray and Trish and this is reflected in the feeling of the place.

The bed was so comfortable and cosy that it was hard to get up in the mornings, except for the fact that a hearty cooked breakfast beckoned us in the dining room downstairs.

Ray and Trish were very friendly and extremely knowledgeable on the Southland area, offering many tips on places to see while in Invercargill.

We found Safari Lodge was a comfortable walking distance to the town centre, bars and restaurants.
