Wow - this place has been turned from a dirty lignite pit into paradise!! Stopped for a coffee and a bite to eat and found the place quite charming. Food and coffee were great and prices reasonable.

We arrived as the muffins came out of the oven, wow I don't normally like muffins but found myself eating half of the one I bought for my partner. We had a great chat with Dave and loved hearing about the transformation of the gardens. My partner works with lignite and had a lot to talk to Dave about. A great place to visit, a must see.

Stop off for a walk around the pond and gardens, feed the ducks then unwind with some of Mrs Sandersons home baking and a pot of tea.Clean & tidy and relaxing and well priced.

The place will allow you to travel back in time in terms of tools that new zealand settlers used to have for agriculture. Some of them you wouldn't even think they exist. The owner will guide you through the museum and a quick tour of the place anyway.

A really committed couple own this place. Great food and a stroll around their gardens is a real experience. There is also an old time museum, which is also a must see. If you are unable to walk around the gardens, they have a golf cart and you can ride around the premises and at the same time you get a commentary about the history of the area and information on the plants and trees.
