Stayed for 5 nights, Doug and Jo are great hosts and were very helpful. The room, had 1 bedroom, good size separate lounge, and excellent cooking facilities. Short walk to town and all the bars and restaraunts and the gondola. A very pleasant stay and would recommend it to any one.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms have a nice balcony for an afternoon drink.

Many places closer to the central town for much more money. The Amity Lodge is clean, spacious (two room apartment style) and close enough to walk to dinner in town. The first night we walked down the hill for dinner which was about 10 minutes. The second night we drove to the car park on Stanley Street which is free after 6pm. All in all a very good value for Queenstown.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms have a nice view toward the gondola.

Booked 3 night stay based on Tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. Separate bedroom, large bathroom (with a bath!), and spacious lounge with balcony sunlit in the afternoons and well-equipped kitchen area left no room for any complaints. Owner friendly and helpful. On top of that Queenstown is, of course, a good place to stay. Our first thoughts on booking in Queenstown had been to find accommodation with a lake view. However, although Amity lodge lacks this, it more than compensates by its considerable value for money and the views are only a short stroll away. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

After reading the reviews, it was a no-brainer staying here, and we weren't disappointed. The reviews are spot-on. Doug was great. Lots of helpful suggestions on where to go and what to see. There is lots to do and see in and around Queenstown - Coronet Peak, Arrowtown, Glenorchy, wineries. We stayed for longer than we planned, partly because Amity Lodge was so comfortable, partly because there was so much to do. Our apartment was spacious with a full kitchen and comfortable lounge. The bedroom had room for the queen bed and a single bed, which meant there was space to put our things. We had breakfast at a small table setting outside our door. While there no "view", we cd see the Gondolas going up and down the mountain. Very quiet and we slept well. Thoroughly recommend this hotel, esp for travelers with a car.

Room Tip: We had a downstairs room. I saw younger and stronger travelers carting their luggage up to the upper...

Queenstown was our first experience of new Zealand. We had booked our accommodation direct and were very pleased with our choice. We first of all met Jo, who was a very friendly, kind and interesting person. She was full of good ideas and information concerning what we may like to do. When she learned that we had tickets for a rock concert, (the first we have ever been to), in no time at all she organised coach tickets to the venue. Doug, Jo's partner, ran us to the place where we were picked up. All this helped our first full day in Queenstown.

Queenstown itself is in a beautiful place, surrounded by magnificent snow capped mountains, which made the flight into the airport totally memorable. There are many restaurants, bars and other features that attracts many visitors to the area. Our accommodation at Amity Lodge was of good size and well furnished. The apartment was well equipped and had a separate bedroom in addition to the lounge/diner/kitchen.

There is much competition in Queenstown for the tourist trade, but Amity Lodge is well placed for this purpose. It is only a short walk to the town centre which bustles away busily. Amity Lodge though off the main road and a good nights sleep is guaranteed.

I can thoroughly recommend Amity Lodge and Queenstown as highly as I recommend The Remarkables, a beautiful mountain range best viewed from the top of the nearby hill accessed by cable car.

Don't miss Queenstown and certainly don't miss Amity Lodge.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor.

First off, the owner, Doug is very welcoming & warm the second you walk through the door. The rooms are apartment style, so very spacious. Location is great because though on top of the hill over town, it's our of the noise of city center yet a very easy 5-minute walk into the heart of town. The construction complaints from other reviewers weren't an issue for us because of noise restrictions (they have to stop by I think 6pm every night and can't start until 8am the next morning--we had early morning activities both days, so were already up). I think having a room on the inner side (by the reception area) would help with this for those wanting to sleep in.

Kitchen was well equipped and really liked the setup of the rooms that keeps every room quite private. Rooms are well kept and clean.

I can easily see why this is one of the few non-5-star properties in Queenstown that makes the top of the list for hotels to stay in--we first stayed at the Hilton (which breaks the bank a bit), and then on our return trip after a few days, stayed here--would choose to stay here if given the choice again because the value for your dollar is much higher.

A friend recommended Amity Lodge and it certainly is one of the best motels we have stayed in 9 weeks traveling from north of Auckland to here. The price is reasonable and compares with most others we have stayed in.
Owners, Doug & Jo, are a very friendly & helpful couple. It has a large living room with frig, 2 plate cooker, m/wave and large flat screen LED TV. Faces west for a sunny evening on the balcony. Free unrestricted wifi. There is a double bedroom with a comfortable 5ft bed and also a single bed & flat TV. Good sized bathroom with inbuilt shower. Electric heating for cold mornings. We have stayed for 3 weeks and will be staying here when we return. All kept in spotless order. It is just 5/10 minutes walk to town centre. Contact - www.amitylodge.co.nz/‎.
