“Doing the Milford Walk”
Reviewed 6 December 2013

We were lucky! The whole five days were spent in sunshine as we covered the serious ups and downs of the Track. The views were spectacular, especially the waterfalls (many), and the walking quite tough in parts but we were well supported and encouraged by our excellent guides as well as by fellow travellers.
The accommodation in the lodges was much better than we expected and compared well with any hotel. Dinner and breakfast was ample, hot and delicious.

“The Grand Traverse guided walk 20-25 Nov 2013”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

Nine of us girls from Melbourne aged from 47 to 68 joined 14 other on the Grand Traverse guided walk. It was amazing, awesome, fabulous and challenging, we couldn't have had a better time, views were stunning and the pristine fairytale forests were beautiful. Our guides Sadao, Matt, Liane and Marco were gorgeous talented young people, we all fell in love with them, they looked after us on the walks, cooked up a storm for us, the meals were absolutely yummy, took care of our blisters and sore feet etc, we felt nothing was too much trouble for them and were always ready with a lovely smile. All the lodges were very comfy and with plenty of room for 23 walkers, we especially loved the more "rustic" ones e.g. Greenstone lodge.
Thank you Ultimate Hikes for providing such a great adventure, will certainly recommend you.

“A great walk indeed”
Reviewed 25 November 2013 via mobile

The views along the Grand Traverse lived up to our expectations, especially as New Zealand turned on a beautiful sunny/fine 6 days for the 5th guided walk of the season. The team from Ultimate Hikes were great trek guides, hut hosts and cooks, and the final 2 lodges were generously hospitable, comfortable and had superb vistas. Will be back . Thank you.

“A fantastic experience- a highlight of our New Zealand Trip.”
Reviewed 21 November 2013

We walked the Routeburn with Ultimate hikes in November and totally enjoyed every bit of it.
Fantastic professional Guides whose knowledge of the track, flora and fauna was excellent. They allowed members of the group to walk at their own pace and were very supportive of the slower members. Their rapport and good humour were a real bonus. The track itself is very beautiful , we were lucky to have good weather and saw it at its best. The Lodges are excellent, the drying rooms are very efficient and would easily cope with wet gear. We chose an 'ensuite' room, rather than the shared facilities, and it was excellent. Spotless linen, plenty of hot water for showers and good views. The wake-up call by the Kea at Mczkenzie was a 'hoot'. All the meals we were served were very good..freshly prepared and cooked. This is really tramping on a luxury basis as you only need to carry the minimum amount of gear as washing dries so quickly. If you choose to do this trek whatever the weather you will have a good time as this company has a lot of experience and works hard to ensure that their clients have a positive and enjoyable experience. Well done to our BAD team...Brydie, Amanda and Dickon!!!!!
