Our room was nice but being located right next to the restaurant was not good. All we could hear most of the night was the staff dragging the furniture across the floor. This is really annoying when you are trying to get to sleep.
The food at the restaurant was good but the service wasn't very good. Firstly we had to wait to get a menu then we had to wait over an hour for our entrees because they were too busy doing all the room service orders.
Concierge are keen to help you organise activities but they wouldn't pass details onto the next concierge to follow up the booking. So the next day you speak to them hoping it's all finalized but you have to start again because this concierge knows nothing about your booking.
The free shuttle is advertised as first in best dressed until we found out one night that you actually have to make a reservation. No where does it say this.
Our stay here has been disappointing. It has definitely not met our expectations and therefore I cannot recommend this hotel. It's a real shame because the view is amazing.

Room Tip: Do not choose apartment 608

The Rees hotel is well appointed and situated. There are many hotels in the vicinity which offer similar and sometimes better views. Queenstwon is such a beautiful spot that choosing a hotel for its view should not be high on your list -you will be out and about all day and into the evenings.

Stay in this hotel if you want every problem solved easily and quickly. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable.

Room Tip: You can pay more for a view but personally I wouldnt have bothered. I was never at the hotel during daylight hours.

The hotel is advertised as being half an hours walk from the town. 45 to 50 minutes would be more realistic but it is a lovely walk. The shuttle bus is infrequent. It leaves the town at 2.15 in the afternoon and then not again until 5.15. Why? The other hotels buses seem to leave hourly.( in fact one of them kindly gave us a lift) Very comfortable beds but for the money - an overpriced dissappointment.

For a family, this 2 bedroom Lake View apartment, with lounge, dining, kitchen and laundry was fantastic. The view over the lake was calming and we felt comfortable in our lovely apartment. Yes, it is a little way out of Queenstown but we were picked up from the hotel for some activities or just drove in to town where we didn't have any problem parking. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Agee with all the praise above: beautiful, functional design of hotel and rooms, incredibly helpful staff and - above all - free laundry, essential for two sweaty hikers! Cannot recommend it highly enough.
