“Beautiful hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2014

My husband and I stayed at this gorgeous hotel for 4 nights and we weren't disappointed at all! It is a beautiful hotel, just on the outskirts of Queenstown city centre with fantastic views of the lake. Walking into the reception area to check-in, the staff were very welcoming (Kendal was lovely!) and really took the time to go over the hotel's features and personally take us to our room- it's small touches like that that really show they care about their guests. The rooms are tastefully furnished with all the luxury you can expect from a hotel of this high standard. We had a room with a balcony and amazing views of the lake from the 2nd floor.
The hotel may seem a "bit out of town" for some....but it's really not that far. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to the town centre regularly throughout the day, but a couple of times we did actually walk into town which is only about a 15-20minute walk (not far at all!) and just gives you more time to look down on the lake and really take in the area.
We didn't get time to dine at the restaurant but the menu looked amazing and almost all the local people we spoke to on our trip highly recommended the degustation menu at the hotel - and we definitely plan to dine there next time!

Room Tip: Pay the extra money and get a room with a lake view- it's totally worth it!

Enjoyed a fabulous week in Queenstown at Rees Hotel, perfect base from which to enjoy all that Queenstown and surrounds offers, quiet location slightly out of town ensures peace and quiet, while access to Queenstown is a few minutes drive (or lakeside walk). Fabulous meal at Rees restaurant one night (too special to eat there every night). Views from all rooms over lake and mountains makes an hour relaxing in room something to look forward to. Queenstown is a great place even out of ski season. March 2014 weather was perfect.

very nice hotel with and amazing view over the lake!
the restaurant is very good with lots of wines and desserts.
full of comforts and well prepared personal.
nice welcome for honeymooners...
it's located outside of queenstown but has a very good bus service to the town.

I stayed in this hotel for two nights on the last "leg" of my honeymoon. The views were gorgeous and the property was very well-kept. My only complaint was the location, which didn't quite suit our needs. It was very much on the outskirts, which would have been fine if we were going to be in Queenstown and the surrounding area for a while and really wanted to explore the region, but we were only there for a few days and would have benefited from being closer to downtown Queenstown. There is a shuttle bus available, but the times it left and returned weren't terribly convenient. As a hotel, I would absolutely recommend it, but I would urge travelers to consider whether or not the location suits their interests.

We stayed at 5th floor and could see the building of 4th floor which is located just in front of our building, yet it did not bother the sight out of our room. So I believe most rooms have got clean view of the lake. However it could be the best stay on 4th or 3rd floor for the 'very best' view of the lake.

Unfortunately we failed to have a sunny day in the mornings however you can have an awesome sunrise view from the lakeside, just a few minutes walk down from your room.

They've got a small restaurant which you should spend one night for dinner and for the rest of the nights you should be dining out to downtown by hotel's free transportation. For return you may wait for this hotel's transportation or just get on board the bus or taxi.

Stylish hotel on outskirts of Queenstown. Modern and immaculate room with spacious ensuite and fantastic power shower. Built on different levels. Reception staff were friendly and breakfast was excellent. However, we became totally exasperated when our laundry went missing. Each time we asked at reception we got a different story. We were moving on and the hotel said they would forward our laundry once they had located it. We had to keep phoning to see what had become of our laundry and after 4 calls we finally got a tracking number for the courier. We eventually caught up with it on our last day in New Zealand.

Room Tip: Definitely worth paying extra for lake view with balcony

We stayed in a 3-bed apartment at the Rees. The view was spectacular and the staff helpful and friendly. But we were very disappointed with the apartment.
It didn't look particularly clean, and while the master bedroom was fine, the other two bedrooms were so small you would have had difficulty swinging a hobbit in them! The bedroom next to the sitting room had no lock which was not ideal as we had a small child in our group.
I have conveyed my comments to the management and received a nice reply, but we'd stayed in such a lovely place in Carterton prior to this, that we felt really let down.
Queenstown is, however, a great place, and there are loads of interesting activities and attractions.
