“A home away from home”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

We have stayed here in the Weir apartment for the last two years in a row, and we love it here. It's so comfortable, private, and convenient. It's just a block away from town, has a hot tub, free parking, free wifi, daily service, large super comfortable bed... what else do you need!

Hosts Alex and team are always friendly, helpful, and welcoming, and we always look forward to our stay. It's so nice to come back to after a day out skiing, touring, or something even more crazy like the Nevis Swing! Soak in the hot tub, go for a walk into town for dinner, then come back and chill out on the lounge or fall into the massive comfy bed. Next morning cook yourself some bacon and eggs on the gas stove, toast, cup of tea, orange juice... and you're ready to do it all over again :)

Lots of good memories from that place!

Room Tip: If you have mobility problems go for the two ground floor stone house rooms - the Weir apartment is...

We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with a week in Queenstown - I just love the town and staying here was a bonus. We had the 1 bedroom upstairs apartment at the back of the property so the views were a LITTLE restricted but not a problem really.
We love to be able to prepare our own breakfast and dinner too on some nights so apartments are our choice as much as possible. Our host was helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Big hill to walk up to get to the street - just saying! I don't mind that but some might. Would happily stay again.

We stayed for 7 nights with our 8 year old son. It was perfect for us. The kitchen is small but has everything you need - we cooked dinner 3 nights and had breakfast at home every morning. There are full laundry facilities just behind the cottage. The cottage is warm and cosy for those freezing queenstown winter nights.it is a short walk (5 mins) to town and the walk home up steep hill will have you super-fit by time you leave. Is also a good way to work off all the great food and wine you can enjoy in queenstown - so many great dining options. Alex is a delight and nothing was too much trouble. We will be back again.

Room Tip: We stayed in alley apartment - was a little bit of street noise but nothing more than your average s...

I was pleasantly surprised to find my fairly inexpensive accommodations to be so pleasant and spacious. Alex welcomed me and did everything to make my stay more comfortable. He moved my luggage twice, once while I hiked the Milford Track and again to my next lodging after the hike. He even transported food from the refrigerator twice. The bed was extremely comfortable and Hallenstein was a very quiet street. Probably my favorite part of the stay was the little table and chairs in the very private back patio. I LIVED out there when I was not exploring. I sat out and read, sunbathed and ate all meals there. There was also a hot tub just outside my French doors that opened from the living room. The managers showed up at the same time each day to clean usually when I was away. My ONLY criticism would be that there was no outlet in the bathroom. Be warned that it was 2 blocks straight up from town, but it didn't stop me from making several trips and it was very good exercise. HSH was all that I hoped for and more and Alex and his crew could not have been more helpful!

This was a spacious stone cottage, used to be the mayor's house apparently. It had everything required and was very charming and homely. The only thing it didn't have, and the reason why I did not give it 5 stars, was that there was no washing machine! This would have been very handy. Everything else was great. The showers were a little weak, but overall it was an excellent place to stay. Proximity to the town centre was a plus point. It's a steep walk back up however! There were log fires should it get cold, but we did not need to use them. There was also a spa out back.

We stayed three blissful nights in this lovely cottage. I must say it was one of our accommodation highlights of our trip to New Zealand. The cottage has such a quiet and relaxed ambience that we stayed in sipping our wine and enjoying our home for a night instead of heading to Queenstown for dinner. The property is within walking distance of the center but on quite a steep hill so it might not be for everyone. Wonderful features were free parking, great free wifi, laundry, full kitchen if you want to cook at home, big king comfy bed, plush bathrobes and slippers (which I particularly loved) along with a big clean bathroom and shower with great water pressure, big living room/dining area and big TV with all channels that you possibly need or want. The property is away from the center so very quiet but an easy walk down the hill although a couple of times we contemplated a taxi up after too much NZ wine! Alex, Jude and the staff were all wonderful and extremely helpful. We never ever felt rushed or pressured to vacate in the morning for cleaning. We highly recommend and we will book again if we ever are lucky enough to return.

We stayed in the main 3 bedroom house for 2 nights and it was wonderful. Everything we could ask for, the hot tub was great. The house is easy walking distance to the town. The rooms and beds are comfortable. The open fire is lovely and we made use of it last night. Alex the host was brilliant, a place to recommend and use again.
