“Luxurious Stay”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

We were all on an absolute high with the luxuries we were about to experience. The rooms were immaculate, well spaced and warm and well ventilated. Cleaning services were exceptional and the overall hotel service was very friendly and helpful. We loved our stay and have decided to make it an annual trip.

We chose this hotel as it was not in Queenstown but provided a Boat and Mini bus shuttle into town if we needed. The airport is close however sound was not an issue at all - looking out over the water was gorgeous every single day as Queenstown in Winter can be very dark right up til 0800am in the morning..Rooms not too big, not too small - nice and modern - well kept and maintained, art works throughout and photography perfect. Staff very helpful, food and drinks of the same standard - breakfast excellent. Drinks outside at night time around the fireplace perfect. Conceirge excellent at finding out info on places to eat and booking if possible. Wifi works well.Day Spa and amenities just what you need. Oddities were no wine glasses in the room, no inhouse movie chanel to pay as you go and T cups in your room the size of a thimbel and River front rooms were abit of a rabbit warren but that didnt bother us - everything easily sorted when requested. It only took 10 mins to drive in - 15 is there was traffic..we loved being away from everyone - so close to the remarkables...great stay thank you xx will come back again.

The rooms are excellent & well appointed. They have hit the mark on delivering luxury & provide great value when compared to the competition. If you can force yourself to wake up in time for the sunrise, you'll get one of the best views in town. The service throughout is excellent. The bar near the main foyer is a relaxing way to unwind & chat to other guests. The buffet is the best we've found in QT, just try to avoid peak times if you're in a rush as you may have to wait for a table.
Whist close, it isn't in the heart of town so you will need to taxi it back if you've had a drink or two. The location can also be an advantage when you want to get up the ski fields in the morning as you miss the town traffic, the tranquility is evident when you walk around the foreshore also.

Room Tip: There are some great deals on-line which Hilton will match if you phone the front desk directly.

Queenstown was the last part of our trip to New Zealand and also landed on my 40th Birthday, so we wanted to make it that little bit special.

Our stay at the Hilton was very comfortable, with a room issue being resolved by staff (there was no bath, and we were traveling with our 2 year old boy). We were in a lake facing residence, with great views of the lake, and surrounding area - spectacular views of the mountains.

The beds (we were in a two bedroom residence) and linen was excellent, ensuring good nights sleep. Although the rooms were very comfortable, we feel that there was a bit too much pushed into the rooms - maybe a case of less is more should be looked into - however this does not reflect a bad stay here at all.

Staff were extremely willing to help - especially in the main restaurant used for breakfast.

Overall, a very pleasurable experience staying here at the Hilton, and would recommend it to anyone staying - be it as doubles or as a family.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for 5 nights. As far as 2 bed rooms go in Queenstown these were amongst the cheapest (given it's a Hilton I was surprised). The rooms are everything you would expect. Great finish, comfy beds and a good size. You could easily stay longer, or live in one.
The Hilton is not in the heart of Queenstown. If you don't have a car I wouldn't recommend it. If you do, it's nice to be away from the busy part of town. If you are going for the nightlife, bars and restaurants of central Queenstown then maybe not the best choice.
If you are going for a relaxing holiday away from the noise, want a room with a great view and don't mind 10 minutes to town then this is a great choice.

One thing to watch if you have kids. The ground floor rooms lead straight to the lake. Not ideal if your little people are good at unlocking doors.

Had a lovely spa package for my birthday weekend at the Hilton - know the hotel well as local but never stayed. We had the waterfront rooms with the spa on the balcony. Nice room but just a couple of very little things that let the room down - No wine glasses in the room and the valance was wrinkly - I wouldnt have thought this of a 5 star resort = in saying that, very minor ! Lovely hotel, lovely staff/service and the spa was great. Great water taxi service from the jetty right to town. The restaurant was quiet, and food was amazing. Really enjoyed the Grill. Gorgeous little lobby bar were we had a drink. Overall loved Hilton hotel and we will return for another stay.

Room Tip: Loved the waterfront rooms with the spa on the deck!

In all our NZ trip, these rooms were the nicest by far. Spectacular views, charming fireplace, spacious bathrooms. I was glad we stayed. BUT. I wouldn't stay here again. It's misleading because it's not really in Queenstown - it's across the lake, away from the main area. We had a lot of trouble finding it at first and I think the GPS had a different town name.

I was told not to worry - there was a bus and a ferry for guests. Well, it turns out there is a VERY limited schedule (and no late nights) for both, and they were pretty much entirely booked for departures by the time we checked in for the duration of our 2-night stay, so there wasn't even an option to take them. Frustrated, we took a cab into town (in the $50 range) one night, and drove another. We were able to catch the ferry back for returns the first night, and it was quick, cheap, and a nice ride/view. But even if the ferry wasn't booked, I wouldn't want to be stuck with strict times to wait/leave. It's a holiday!

The hotel staff was very nice though and if you're looking for a beautiful vista, this is it. But for us, on our first trip to Queenstown, we wanted to be in it, not bothered with the hassle of transport with a short stay.
