Lovely hotel, and staff were very accommodating, nothing was a hassle. Only stayed one night (1st of Jan) but could have stayed longer. Away from the hustle and bustle of QT (new years) .... very relaxing.
Had the relax room - with the outside spa. Lovely room with fireplace, and great views. Own deck etc. Bathroom was stunning, and the kingsize bed amazing.
The only comment would be this is something I would only go in at night (when it's dark) as you are at the front of the hotel facing the lake, and people walk by and can see you in the hot tub.

Room Tip: I'd choose a room on the lakefront as we did - the relax room with it's own outside spa pool...

Dear euro79

Thank you for posting your feedback regarding your recent stay which was at the Hilton Queenstown - situated beside the Kawarau Hotel.

I was delighted to see you enjoyed yourself. I understand your concern relating to using the hot tub and being in view of walkers on the track. We currently have sail shades to put in place and the vegetation will soon grow so this will not be an issue.

Thank you again for sharing your comments and I look forward to welcoming you back to the Hilton again in the near future.

Kind regards
Marlene Poynder

Yes yes yes....so the rooms may be small, I found it more than adequate and had everything & more that we required. The staff were very professional and were extremely helpful always offering to assist in every way. The rooms exceptional and although we spent a few days at an apartment in town we wanted to get away where everything was at hand and the KH certainly exceeded our expectations. Close to the airport, Remarkables Shopping Centre, lovely lake walk/run/bike track, water taxi to town was cheap and fun.....the only downside which does not directly affect the KH was the very poor service at the Stacks Pub. We had to wait over an hour for our mains, of which one was sent back, the waiter was dropping chips left right and centre off my plate as he walked around the next table to deliver their long awaited meals. They complained rather loudly and he was in a tizz. They did offer free desserts but to get your meals at 9.35pm was not on. Try the other restaurants.

All in all we are going to book here again and I shall tell my clients to stay here as well, fantastic at $127 per night.

We had stayed at Kawarau Hotel for one night, rooms are actually very small but with clever allocations of space, it has got space where it matters. The room and bathroom felt spacious, the living area and kitchen might appear small but then again you won't be spending too much time in those areas if you're visiting a place as scenic as New Zealand. The design was very modern. Kitchen utensils are very new. Getting to the hotel might be a problem as most GPS systems will not be able to find it. Try putting "Peninsular Road" or "Kelvin Heights" instead. It is recommended if you possess your own transport.

Dear Chee C

Thank you for taking the time to place your feedback regarding your recent stay at the Kawarau Hotel.
I am pleased to see you were happy with our facilities. Unfortunately signage to our village has been an ongoing battle with the Transport Authority and thank you for explaining that by entering the street address into your GPS would be helpful for guest finding the property.

I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel again should your travels bring you back to Queenstown.

We had a nice, but small room overlooking the Remarkable range. I'm sure the lake view rooms would have offered better views.
It was modern (as to be expected from a new hotel) and clean, but felt a little clinical.
The food at the nearby eateries was of a high standard.

Room Tip: Go for a lake room. And highly recommend the breakfast.

The staff at the Hilton Queenstown and the Kawarau Hotel, managed by Hilton are two lovely options when staying in Queenstown. The views on the lake are magnificent and if you are without a vehicle, the deli, bars and restaurants will take excellent care of you. The room we had at the Kawarau was small but sufficient as there were only two of us. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The business center at the Hilton Queenstown offers the services of the business center for those st...

My wife and I and our 18 mth old son stayed here in late November. We enjoyed our stay, but like alot of the other reviewers found the room very small. It was difficult especially with our young son, as we had to cram the porta cot as best we could into our room which made things a squeeze. Despite that, we had a decent stay. The room was lovely and quiet. However one disappointment was the severe lack of facilities for young children and the non existence of any ramps etc, which made getting down stairs with our pram a task. We wanted to take a stroll along the river one morning, and we had to carry our pram down three flights of stairs (past the bar) to get to the river. I remember saying to my wife anyone staying with a disability or needing wheelchair access would have extreme difficulty. Definitely geared towards single people or couples with no children.

Dear BikemanSunshineCoast

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on Trip Advisor regarding your recent stay at the Kawarau Hotel.

We have wheelchair/pram access to the lake counter deli, restaurant and lakefront via elevators through the Hilton Hotel. I do apologise that a team member did not advise and show you this alternative route down to the lake front.

I am pleased you found your room lovely and quiet even if a little on the small side.
I hope I have the opportunity to welcome you back to stay with us again maybe in one of our larger rooms or suites.

Kind regards
