It's a little out of town, but not too far. The rooms are extremely comfortable and housekeepers do a fantastic job. Beds are super comfortable. The view is stunning - ensure you book a Lake View room, if you don't you will waste an experience. Bathrooms in need of a Reno but who cares especially when everything else is so perfect. Thanks Mecure Resort Queenstown !!

I would have given this a 3 1/2 stars if I could. I agree with a lot of the reviews about the whole place looking a bit tired and dated. Could do with a spruce up. Having said that, our room was very clean and I think for the price when you compare it to other hotels in Q town it stands up well. In the last 18 months we have stayed at Heritage, Millennium, Rydges and Novotel and this was not as nice but also lots cheaper. The staff are far and away the friendliest we have encountered in any of the hotels in Queenstown. We had a baby and a toddler and were very well looked after. The buffet breakfast is pretty average but has excellent views over the lake, and staff were extra attentive seeing us struggling with two little ones. The outside areas looked beautiful, it would be fantastic sitting out by the pool in the summer or in the outdoor bar area looking over the lake. We would be happy to stay here again based on price and quality of staff, we can handle a bit of old carpet and dated bathrooms for that.

Room Tip: We had a lakeview twin, great views!

We had a super stay at the Mercure. We were travelling NZ for a month as our honeymoon and were really touched when the Mercure upgraded us to a room with a stunning lake view and left us a card, bubbly wine and chocolate in our room. Thank you so much, this was a really nice gesture. The room was comfortable and spacious and the facilities are very good. We ate in the restaurant one night which was pleasant and enjoyed our breakfast in the hotel each morning. The breakie is really good - you can choose from a continental style breakfast with plenty of lovely pastries, fruit yogurts, ham and cheese or a cooked breakfast - we often combined both! We got the bus straight from the hotel up to the slopes for some skiiing which was handy and the walk to and from town up the hill is lovely and scenic. There is free wifi available in the lobby for a limited time each day, it was a shame this wasn't available from the rooms. The hot tub was available to use which was nice but the outdoor pool isn't heated so not available during the winter.

Room Tip: If you can get a room with a lake view it really is worth it! Beautiful.

Thank you for your lovely, kind review. We are thrilled to be part of your special honeymoon stay. I do have an update that in late August we installed WIFI in the accommodation rooms so you may access payable WIFI from those as well now. We do hope you return to us again soon! This time, I would like to share our experience staying at Mercure Resort Queenstown end of last month. As this particular stay was our first in town so we didn't have any idea on what to expect. We were driving to the hotel upon our arrival at Queenstown airport and we could see gorgeous view on Lake Wakatipu (If I am not mistaken) in our left hand side as we were driving towards the hotel.

Depending on traffic condition, Mercure Resort Queenstown can be reached within 20 minutes from Queenstown airport. It was located in a quiet road a little bit off from the main road, in a nice and quiet residential area, as we were driving uphill. Upon our arrival, both of me and my wife proceeded to the reception for check-in. As I have contacted the hotel prior to our arrival and let them knew that we both would arrive in the hotel earlier that morning, they let us having early check-in as they seemed to prepare everything by the time we were there.

Check-in was prompt and within 10 minutes, we entered our room already. Right after entering our room, we both left our luggage in front of the room's door as we both enjoyed the lake view from our room first. Our room size was standard but I believe anyone could see immediately that it was an old property (outdated) but the good thing It was fairly clean and everything was properly functioned during our stay.

Breakfast was fairly okay (nothing special) but again, the view from the breakfast area was stunning. I couldn't stop saying great things about the view as it was the only reason I would give this hotel a four stars' rating in a split second's decision. However, back to reality, due to property's condition, although I felt it was really a pity that I had to rate a 3 stars' rating for this hotel, I would stick to my decision as I didn't see anything great in this hotel other than its lake view.

Although we both got room in the highest floor with lake view, which could be translated as one of the best available room (other than suites), I was not really impressed at all. However, I was quite surprised the hotel was quite full during our stay as we found many Asians, who came in group tours, stayed in the property. Probably, that's one of the reasons why the hotel owner's is not pumping his/her money to renovate the hotel.

Apart from the above, another good thing for those who had no car with them, there was a bus that would take you to the downtown. The bus would make a regular stop by the main entrance which was really convenient. If I was not mistaken, the bus would run until late in the evening (please check with the concierge/reception as they have the bus schedule). Parking was free but it could be easily fully occupied in the evening but you might park on the street (I did that in the 2nd night) as I couldn't find any parking space inside when I arrived in the hotel slightly after 8:30 pm.

Overall, I would recommend this particular hotel for those who don't mind paying quite a steep price and for those who are looking for great views from their room. But personally, I do believe there are a number of hotels in town that could offer similar (or better) privileges we get in this hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room in a higher floor (4th floor is the highest) which facing the lake.
