Even though it is only about a 10-15 minute drive out of Queenstown, it is in another world. We stayed for two nights of pure luxury. The room was exquisite and the views are to die for - we didn't want to leave our room. The hour-long massage was absolute pure bliss, something I would thoroughly recommend. The food was delicious and plentiful. The staff were fantastic, they couldn't do enough for us. I could go on and on, but I will just say that it was an absolute pleasure to stay at such a splendid hotel. I hope we can go back again next year.

Room Tip: River view is an absolute must.

We stayed at the Distinction at Nugget Point for 4 nights in January 2014. The hotel is located on Arthur's Point road, a few kilometers outside Queenstown. While it may seem out of the way, the location actually has quite a bit on offer, with the jet boating on the Shotover river, the Onsen hot pools and the excellent Gantley's restaurant within walking distance. Coronet Peak is also not too far away from here.

The hotel itself is an old property and, while we did have some issues with the heating in our first room (it was a very cold summer in Queenstown with snowfall in the higher hills/mountains) due to which we had to change rooms, the excellent spa, prompt service, beautiful view from our room and the in house restaurant more than made up for this small glitch.

The spa is excellent and is recommended for all those visiting here. Those at the hotel go a long way in ensuring that the experience is an extremely relaxing and intimate affair, with no house guests allowed in till after regular spa hours. One gets exclusive use of the swimming pool as well.

All in all, an extremely pleasant experience which is recommended to all.

Room Tip: River view on the second level is the way to go. The views of Shotover river are stunning

Old world touch of luxury. During my stay the staff were amazing and went far above and beyond call of duty making my stay memorable. My room was incredibly comfortable and bed as good as home. Views from my window of The Remarkables and Shotover river was gorgeous. The lovely Hannah is one of this hotels best assets :)
Clean comfy and the feeling you have stepped into an olde English manor . Worth while place to add onto your intinery

This hotel is truly a nugget of gold. Location is good if you prefer to stay away from the hustle & bustle of Queenstown. We stayed in a suite which was absolutely beautiful, overlooking the Shotover River. The room was impeccably clean. And the best part was the spa - if you have an appointment, you get the whole spa area to yourself/ and partner, which is great. I stayed at 2 hotels in Queenstown, Distinction was the second one and I found myself wishing I had stayed at the Distinction only for my entire stay.

This is a great boutique hotel about 7 km from Downtown Queenstown, right on the Shotover River. We got so much more than we expected for the amazing price. They have a gym, pool, day spa, bar, and restaurant, all thought the food is pricey. We booked online and spent $22 extra for the river view. The scenery was incredible and the best money we ever spent to upgrade.

The rooms are very nicely appointed and the bathroom is on par with some higher end hotels. And, they offer free Wifi!

And if you're into the hip nightlife, you're only a few km from the hotspots, but for those who crave peace and quiet, you get that in abundance! I WILL return!

Room Tip: Upgrade to the river view! Totally worth it.

Three friends and I from work spent the most relaxing weekend away together - our end of year treat to ourselves! All of the staff went out of their way to make our stay unforgetable, the hospitality shown to us could not have been better. All of the facilities were absolutely wonderful, we made the most of everything on offer from the TV room to the outdoor surroundings. The meals were delicious and of course we couldn't get enough of the spa area. We intend to return again this year and will spend even more time on the premises - why go anywhere else!

Room Tip: The rooms on the riverview side get the last of the evening sun. If you are traveling with family an...

Delightful hotel with timeless grandeur, lovely staff throughout. Ten minute drive to town centre, overlooking Shotover River/Jet. Fabulous views, peaceful and relaxing. Dinner was superb. Breakfast average. Spa facilities extensive. We had a great price for the couple of nights spent here. TV service abysmal but plenty of DVDs to choose from. Great free wifi and parking.
