Just about perfect. Room had a view to die for.
Facilities are well thought out and first rate. Very well cared for. Everything you'd want in a hotel and more...the cinema room (with pop corn thrown in) is a lovely, clever touch. The gym (although I couldn't bring myself to use it after skiing all day!) is large and very well provisioned, and the pool is terrific. Tennis court for the summer. If you look at the photos provided by the hotel on tripadvisor, then you'll get a very good idea of what the hotel actually looks like.
What the photos can't show is the level of service which you get. The staff are really very helpful, and very willing to help or to provide advice. Wonderful warm and genuine hospitality.
Before booking you should realise that the hotel is somewhat out of town. That was a plus for us, especially since we were skiing and the hotel is right at the bottom of the Coronet Peak skifield access road (bus stops opposite hotel and drops off near the gates. Hotel has skiroom/drying room). It's only a few minutes drive into town, and just at town there's a convenient and cheap carpark.
The only slight quibble I had was that we ate in the restaurant twice during our stay, and the meals varied somewhat. First time was excellent, and enough to encourage us to eat there again (though we don't normally "eat in" if we stay in a hotel). Second time was not quite so good. Maybe a different chef? But anyway, I'd STILL give this place 5 stars, and we will be back as soon as we can!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a river view.

This place is excellent!!! I chose to stay here after reading the reviews of others and based on the price also. It exceeded my expectations. I booked a river suite and I'm not sure why,but I was upgraded to the shotover suite, which was beautiful!
The location is only 5-10 minutes out of town, situated on a mountain with a beautiful view.
The hotel is beautiful, luxury for a fraction of the price, the staff realy make this place too, extra friendly and professional. Who ever runs this place realy knows customer service and have taught their staff well.
Restaurant is lovely, reasonable priced food.
Free use of pool/spa/sauna is a bonus, sooo relaxing.
The gym was well set out too, not just with treadmills and cardio equipment but weights too( hard too find) The movie room was nice, didn't use it but had a look, large movie type screen with couches, free popcorn. Our room was so nice I didn't want to leave. Nothing bad at all to say about this place. I'm not used to room service, they made our beds, washed dishes, tidied rooms,( suppose that's normal?) wouldn't stay anywhere else now!!!

We stayed in rooms facing the river and mountains and it was seriously the most amazing thing I have ever seen!!!! Every day I just wanted to sit on the balcony and look at the view - it was absolutely breathtaking. DEFINITELY go for the river-side view rooms even if its more expensive - it's worth it!

The rest of the experience was good too, they have a swimming pool, spa and sauna which was lovely! There's also a tennis court and many other features. The hotel has an antique style and had classical furniture. It was very classy and we loved staying here. It's very quiet as it's outside of town. Definitely exceeded expectations!

This hotel was absolutely amazing. From customer service, to dining, to facilities - we were well looked after, with an amazing river side view and treated the way hotel customers should be treated. The only issue we had was travelling from the hotel to Queenstown (about a 5 minute taxi ride) which with Green Cabs had a $20NZ deal each way which was the best way to travel in and out of town. Also, be prepared to pay for breakfast as there are no lunch available from the kitchen as it is very quiet during the middle of the day. The bowling alley doesn't open till 2pm. Everything was gorgeous in this hotel and we were sad to leave, we were even lucky enough to have snow on our second last day there. We will be back.

Room Tip: River view room is to die for.

I have just got back from 3 wonderful nights at this lovely stately hotel.

I made use of the day spa and wow. Wonderful therapists with a wicked sense of humour, just how I like it.

I had room service each morning for breakfast and also dinner two nights. Food was superb.

Great value for money. No noisy music, no banging of doors, no noise. Peaceful and relaxing.

Staff were all friendly and polite.

I would have no hesitation in staying at this wonderful place again.

Many thanks.

this place well exceeded our expectations. The staff were vibrant and so helpful. Rooms were lively and clean , fantastic views, serviced daily. Great central location close to ski field and city. Very posh. Quiet at nights. Would highly recommend this place. Nice breakfast and my daughter loved the cinema room with popcorn supplied.

I am a bit late with this review as we stayed on March 13 2014. Couldn't have been happier with our accommodation. We booked a garden view room, but on arrival found we had been upgraded to a beautiful river view suite. (That was before the staff knew that we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary). The staff were so lovely, couldn't have been more helpful. The room was lovely and the view spectacular. Would have liked to stay longer. Loved everything about the hotel. Would certainly recomend it to others and would stay there again ourselves. One thing we did have trouble with was internet access in our room. We tried to skype our family but the connection was not good. Might just have been the location of our room and probably would work from lounge or elsewhere in the hotel but didn't try.
