We arrived in Queenstown at the bus terminal in town and needed to call a taxi to get us and our luggage up the hill to this hotel. The incline was so steep that when we later walked down to town, we always called for a cab to return back up the hill. Cabs varied from $7 to $10 depending upon our pickup point.

Once at the hotel, we were given an orientation about our room, the free breakfast included, laundry facilities, and happy hour get together. The hotel offered to make dining reservations in town for us at some of the more upscale restaurants. We received a street map of the town as well.

The view from our bedroom was absolutely stunning. Just outside our room was a patio where the afternoon happy hour met. We learned that our bedroom glass doors were tinted for one way viewing, so no one on the patio could look in while we looked out.

We had a small TV, comfortable bed, and en suite bathroom. There wasn't a safe in the room. On our 1st day there, the water temperature in the shower fluctuated a few times from moderate to almost scalding, so we were careful after that.

We were told to leave our luggage in the entrance area, where there was also a mini fridge. We received a box breakfast the morning we had an early excursion, otherwise we ate in the kitchen/dining area with the other guests. Great way to inquire about activities, compare notes and share experiences. We attended the happy hour even though we didn't drink for the same reason. The only thing that can spoil this type of experience is to have a "know it all" type who think what they did was absolutely the best ever.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view

Queenstown is the gem in the Southern Alps of NZ, to enjoy the great vistas one must climb a hill or get a cab home if required. Thank you for coming to stay with us .

We stayed for 5 nights in a one-bedroom apartment at Queenstown House. The apartment was large, and featured a private deck with an absolutely gorgeous view overlooking Queenstown and the lake. (We were very glad to have a washer and dryer at that point in our trip, another nice feature of the apartment.). It is a short walk downhill to all the restaurants and shopping, and a quick, reasonably priced cab ride if you don't want to walk back up--and cabs are everywhere in Queenstown, so no problem getting one. Most of all we enjoyed the daily cocktail hour with the other guests--the staff serves wine and canapés, and we found ourselves staying beyond the appointed hour talking with the other guests most evenings. The staff was attentive, professional and very helpful--on the one day we had an early tour, they packed an extremely generous "picnic" breakfast for each of us and left it in our refrigerator the prior evening. My only suggestion for improvement would be that wifi just didn't work on our side of the property, but we simply went to the common areas in the main house to check e-mail. Other than that one minor point, it was a fabulous find for Queenstown and I'm very glad we chose it!

My brother and I stayed here for a total of four nights (three nights before the Milford Trail hike, one night after). It was truly an excellent stay. The B&B sits above the town so you have a wonderful view of the lake and surrounds. The rooms are comfy and well-appointed. The thing, though, that made our stay stand out was the hospitality. Louise and her staff (Sue! Cherie! Michelle! Lasse!) were pretty intent on keeping us happy. The evening tea time (or more precisely wine & canapés hour) was a perfect opportunity to wind down and talk with the other guests. Louise joined us a few evenings and she's a hoot. The breakfast is out of this world. Lovely buffet with cold / baked items plus you also choose a hot plate to order. The Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was kinda spectacular, IMO. What else? I mean, they helped with dinner reservations / recommendations, called taxis, helped with a little medical issue, on and on. Yes, there's one steep hill to climb from town to get to the B&B. Deal with it :-)

Lovely b&b in Queenstown. Comfy rooms, excellent breakfasts.
Evening drinks with canapes a lovely touch.
My visit was marred by noisy neighbours keeping me awake - the staff moved me promptly to another lovely room.
It is a steep walk from town or a longer but more gentle walk from the skibus stop (hard work when carrying skis and boots).

I can see you are a winter guest, it is that time of the year again, you should be booking for this winter now. Some of the ski rental stores have ski storage downtown near the bus. Most hotels are up hills in the southern alps and it is a common complaint about lugging skis home, we also suggest leaving in the lockers on the mountain for a couple of days.
Look forward to seeing you but dont know who you are !!!!

We enjoyed our 5 nights stay at Queenstown House immensely. The view and location was wonderful. Louise was kind enough to answer questions ahead of our arrival on booking tours. Her assistant, Sue, called for restaurant reservations after giving us her personal recommendations. Breakfasts were wonderful and flexible. Cherie went above and beyond in her cheerfulness, welcoming attitude, and dedication to the enjoyment of our stay. Sue, Lasse, and Michelle were all a great team serving us wine and snacks in the afternoon while we discussed our day with them, Louise, and other guests.

Room Tip: Villa 3 was spacious with a lovely view
