We used Browns as our headquarters when we visited NZ's South Island to hike the Milford Track. We stayed in two different rooms and both were beautiful and comfortable. It is a very short walk to the shopping area and waterfront, and the breakfasts that Donald and Gillian prepared each morning were delicious. They stored our luggage during our hike, and gave us excellent recommendations for shopping and dining. We highly recommend Browns for anyone who wants an intimate, convenient and luxurious place to stay in Queenstown.

Room Tip: #5 has a balcony and A+ view of the Remarkables

We liked the location of the hotel very much as it was only 2 minutes walk from the center of Queenstown. Rooms were very nice and clean, beautiful view over the city. We had a little bit problems with the grumpy owner who didn't give us a very welcome feeling. He also set us up with doing laundry for 40 dollars (and still complaining that it was so much although the bag was only half filled). At that moment we didn't know that a lot of other accomodations do this for free or only a few dollars. It gave us a bad nasty feeling about this hotel and its service.

We had 4 lovely nights here (3 in the room with the best view of Queenstown). The bed was very comfortable, the breakfasts delightful and the owners extremely friendly and helpful. Car parking is limited however and on-street parking can get a tad tight. If you can, grab a car space and then walk everywhere.

Gillian and Donald are warm and knowledgable hosts, but not intrusive. If you have stayed at many small lodges or B&Bs, you know this is a trait to be savored. It is that "just right" combination that we appreciated.
Attention to detail is exceptional. The rooms are immaculate with beautiful views of Queenstown and sunrise over the mountains. Breakfast choices are delicious and hearty--Donald's pancakes with bananas and blueberries even won me (a non-pancake lover) over. Brown's is an easy five minutes walk to town, yet just far enough away from the loudness of downtown bars late at night...another Golilocks "just right" touch.
We were recuperating from our hike on the Milford Track and Browns was a lovely, perfect place in which to do it.

My husband and I stayed at Brown's for three nights a few days after the earthquake in Christchurch. We were so saddened by the tragedy (even thought about returning home to the US). but we were so glad that we decided to stay! Gillian and Donald are warm and informative hosts. They recommended great restaurants in town and were happy to make reservations for us. The rooms were immaculate with very comfortable beds and incredible views of Queenstown. Attention to detail was exceptional - yummy fresh baked cookies were a treat. Delicious cold and/or cooked breakfasts were served in the lovely dining room - just the right start to a day of adventure. (don't miss the exciting jet boat ride down the dart river!) Brown's is just a few minutes walk to town - no need for a car here! Although the hotel is very close to town it is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle. The views from our private balcony of room #9 were amazing from sunrise to sunset. On your next rip to Queenstown, treat yourself to a memorable stay at Brown's Boutique Hotel. Hope you'll be as thrilled with your choice as we were!

We stayed at Browns for several days at the end of our trip to New Zealand. It was a great choice for us. Just a few minutes' walk to the center of Queenstown or the gondola, very nice rooms, nice view, and very helpful hosts. Gillian provided very good recommendations for restaurants and activities, and she booked reservations for us. I felt that she went out of her way to help make this a good trip for us. She helped me plan the trip by providing recommendations several months in advance. The breakfast was very good. We had a great time in Queenstown, and staying at Browns was a big part of it.
