We were glad to have had this lovely B&B recommended to us and our hosts and stand-in hosts made our time here special. They were friendly and helpful and the breakfasts on offer were terrific. I would have to agree with Marianne and David's comment about getting our TV to show the tennis, but the local pubs had it on anyway. We were probably the the noisy 5.30am group going off to our early trip to Milford Sound or our 75km Grand Traverse tramp! (We were grateful that our extra luggage could be stored for us whilst were on our walk.) Thanks for your help and friendly service, Jillian and Donald,Kaye and Derek and the rest of the service staff. We hope to return.

We hesitate to write a negative report because this B&B is a lovely, European feel, place to stay. We have, however, stayed in Queenstown a number of times in hotels and apartments and so have a number of reference points. It is advertised as a boutique hotel but should be listed as what it is - a charming B&B and more importantly, charge the appropriate rates for a B&B, not the boutique hotel rates we paid. Our visit was to mark a special occasion and we chose what we thought was something 'special'. The view of the lake is only possible from the small juliet balcony unless you have the end room which has a side window. The main view from inside the room is of scruffy neighbours yards. The rooms are very clean but fairly sparse and the cable television only has NZ channels, disappointing when the Australian Open Tennis and other international events are on. The bathroom, obviously last renovated 15 years ago or so, had nowhere to put anything except for the small area around the sink. The shower in the bath, is such a narrow space with barely enough space to stand in - the narrowest bath we've ever seen. One major problem was the nearby room doors making a loud bang when closed and which reverberated through the building - seriously need some sort of sound deadening, especially as the noisy early departures are very disturbing to say the least and added to the slamming doors, the rolling suitcases on the tiled floors made for an earlier than wanted start to the day on a couple of mornings (one was at 5.30am)
If we had not paid so much for our room, we would not have a word of complaint because the hosts are top class, especially Gillian and including the couple who replaced them when they themselves headed of for a break, all very obliging people.

Room Tip: Try to have Room 10 or the room directly below, which have the side window and so the lake can be se...

We recently stayed 3 nights at this lovely boutique hotel and had a great experience. Gillian and Donald could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The views from our room and balcony were stunning! Great location to walk for lunch or dinner or to catch the gondoloa for a ride up the mountain. The room and common areas were very well kept and breakfast was delicious. It was a great way to end our experience in New Zealand.

My husband has just said "cannot fault anything there", that perhaps sums this place up! We stayed for 2 nights at the end of our trip and it didn't help us to get on the plane home!

Gillian and Donald are wonderful hosts and have got it down to a tee. They are so friendly and recommended some fantastic places for dinner (Bella Cucina if you're interested) as well as excursions for us. The breakfasts are divine, especially the french toast, and the communal atmosphere at breakfast is also fun.

We were lucky with room 10 that has views out both over the courtyard, but also over the lake. The room was a great size with fridge and lovely homemade biscuits. The courtyard was a lovely place to sit (although would have been nice to have breakfast out there), as was the living room. One minor point - the shower water did go hot and cold at busy times, but not too badly.

Location is brilliant - 5 minute walk and you're in the centre of town but without the noise from the bars.

In summary - we would most definitely return and recommend to our friends!

My wife and myself recently stayed at Browns Boutique for 7 days, 2 of our friends also joined us as well. The location is excellent with great views and only a few minutes stroll into Queenstown.
Gillian and Donald were extremely helpful in so many ways.
We had some early morning tours so they arranged early breakfast for us and our friends. By the way the breakfast's are amazing.
We arrived back late from a tour and decided to have a drink before going out to dinner and Gillian organised some Champagne flutes for us so we could relax in the downstairs room.
Donald and Gillian were always cheerful and helpful when we were choosing where to eat with tours and information about and around the area.
This is excellent accommodation with a beautiful personal touch "Simply the Best"

We just returned from a three-week trip in New Zealand's South Island and the Browns Boutique Hotel in Queenstown was our first stop. Gillian and Donald were wonderful hosts and they made us feel right at home. The location is perfect, a short walk to the center of town but far enough away to have a quiet, peaceful time. The rooms are beautiful, with fantastic balcony views of the city, mountains and lake. I will always remember relaxing in bed with a book and having the balcony doors open with a nice breeze, watching sunsets, sunrises and New Year's Eve fireworks all from the comfort of our room.

Breakfast was perfect with delicious cooked items, loose leaf teas and cereals and yogurt. The common area and the back patio, with the shortcut into town through the garden gate were lovely.

But the best part was getting to know Donald and Gillian. We had great chats about Queenstown, all of our world travels, the crazy antics of New Year's Eve revelers and tips about everything we needed to know. It was one of those places that felt like home and it was very difficult to leave. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Queenstown - and we plan to return some day. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we can't wait to come back!
