We went to New Zealand in 2007 for our honey moon & i confess i'm writing this review 2 yrs later. But that should tell u how good a time I had at the Browns boutique hotel. The location & property r excellent as all the reviews mention. from our room (& even the tiny bathroom window) we could see the lake & it looked like a postcard from a fairy tale!
What made the experience better than anything else ive experienced is teh attitude of the hosts. They were very friendly & accomodated our wish for a vegetarian breakfast. They also kindly agreed to keep our suitcase for us while we took a 2-day trip to Franz Josef. They also gave us a better room when we returned even without us asking for it!
we are waiting to return to NZ & want only to go to Queenstown & revisit all our happy memories there!

We have travelled all over world, and Brown's Boutique Hotel would be one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. One of the best things about staying at Brown's is the personal service shown by the hosts, Gillan and Donald, particulary at breakfast time. Nothing was too much trouble and breakfast was such a treat, and a fantastic way to start the day, it was superb. The hotel is spotless, the rooms are very nice, the beds extremely comfortable and best of all no noise whatsoever , even though the Queenstown Winter Festival was happening in town below us. The added touches such as the lovely cookies in the room, the juices and water replenished each day were much appreciated. Thank you for making our holiday one to remember, and we will definitely be back again for another visit.

The Browns Boutique Hotel may not be the biggest or the most showy accomodation in Queenstown, but it was certainly the best located. We were in Queenstown during a two week visit to New Zealand. Our intentions were to do as much as possible before we embarked on the Milford Track Guided Walk. (By the way....it IS the Finest Walk in the world!) Many of the adventure tour offices were just a couple of blocks away so we were able to stroll downtown for our pickups. There are plenty of restaurants close by as well as the gondola and a very interesting wildlife sanctuary. The hotel is very cozy with very pretty, clean rooms, big bathrooms, and a wonderful breakfast each morning. The exterior is very unassuming but don't let it fool you, the inside is wonderful. Since the guided walk was five days long and we would be taking only a very few things in our backpacks, we were able to leave our luggage there. When we returned from our wonderful and challenging walk, our bags were back in our room. Very convenient ! I have to admit that the price seemed to be a little high when I booked the room from the USA, but it turned out to be well worth the money.

This is a lovely hotel, with lovely spacious and very well appointed rooms with great bathrooms. All spotlessly clean. Less than 10 minutes walk down the hill to the town centre, shops and restaurants. Breakfast was excellent, not just the usual bacon and eggs, with lots of fresh fruit etc. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

Car parking is limited, but you can park on the road outside. Don't be put off by the uninspiring frontage, it's great inside.

Maybe a little expensive, even for Queenstown, but you get what you pay for.

We decided to give Browns a try because it looked so lovely and had good reviews on tripadvisor ... and what a stay we had! Right when we arrived, the staff helped us with our heavy bags and she did so cheerily. Our room was on the same floor as the entrance, which was great. We loved our pretty room, with its own little Juliet balcony and spacious bathroom. Homemade biscuits and sweets in little jars, a coffee plunger and beverages in the in-room fridge were special touches we noticed. There was also free internet on the guest pc.

Breakfast was so lavish and well presented, and done with such ease by our hosts, that we totally looked forward to it each morning throughout our 3 night stay. Gillian and Donald are warm, sincere and helpful, so easy to talk to.

Browns is within walking distance to downtown Queenstown, which is handy. After dining and shopping, we would stroll back - up the steps from town, through the lighted side alley - all the while knowing that the fireplace in the guest lounge would be crackling, ready to welcome us home.

we spent a very relaxing 4 days at Browns at the end of our time in South Island. We were made very welcome by Gillian and Donald, and nothing was too much trouble. Our rooms were very comfortable, breakfasts were excellent, excellent library for guests, good Internet access.Gillian and Donald were very knowledgeable about the region and added a great deal to our visit. This was one of the best places we stayed at during our time In New Zealand and we hope we are lucky enough to return here in the future.

We stayed here for two nights. The room was comfortable, and as we had room 5, we had great views on two sides, if you ignored the tip that was the next door neighbour's garden! It is close to the gondola and not too far from the city centre. However, its an uphill walk if you have mobility problems. Internet access was free, toiletries of high quality and Gillian and Donald very welcoming and friendly. The only slight problem is that they don't have enough help at breakfast time, so often no place was set when we and others sat down, just the debris from the previous occupant. We would certainly stay again.
