this is an average hotel in total.
Very good location and friendly staff. Good on-site restaurant and better than average food.
Dated building and furniture. in desperate need of a new carpet and coat of paint!
a bit pricey!
IT DOES NOT HAVE A GYM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Ehsan V,

Thanks for taking the time to write your review on your recent stay with us.

We're glad to read that you enjoyed your meals in the restaurant and the food was to your liking. In relation to the rooms, we do have different types of rooms, including both Standard & Superior Rooms to cater to every traveler.

We are in the process of planning to build a gym within the hotel which should be completed this year.

Thanks again and we hope we get the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

We enjoyed our cost-effective conveniently located one night stay in Novotel Queenstown Lakeside, our first night in NZ.

Our hotel was in the heart of town, in close walking distance of everything (dining out, bars, chemist, post office, supermarket, etc). And we had heaps of venues to choose from, dining wise.

Re our room, TV was not huge in size but had Sky TV sports channels. We didn’t use the downstairs facilities but accessed wi fi in room.

Novotel offers secure car parking at $20 a night with valet service and the option to park across the road for no charge after 6 pm. Valet service was great, very quick/efficient.

Room Tip: While our room had a tiny balcony, we'd elected not to pay the extra $60 of so dollars a night f...

Dear BarbaraCSmith_13,

We're pleased to read your positive review of the hotel and thank you for taking the time to share your stay.

An overwhelming comment made by a lot of our guests is our superior location, and being so close to the town amenities proves to be a great selling point. We're pleased to read that you also enjoyed being close to everything!

Thanks again for the review and we hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in NZ.

We always stay at Novotel in Queenstown when we visit as the location is perfect for food, stocking up, and pretty much everything else. Rooms and nice and clean and staffs are super friendly. Its also great they have a guest laundry - we use Queenstown as a base between trekking trips and always have loads to wash.

The only bit of negative feedback I have is the 30MB per day free wifi iwhich is only available in the lobby. In this day and age I expect hotels of this calibre to provide guests with at least unlimted free wifi in the common areas, not 'you can only use it once a day and we will give you 30MB only'.

Apart from that very happy with the hotel and will come back again.

Dear Ashley_Sydney,

Thanks for the positive review of the hotel and for being such loyal guests of ours! It's great to read that you are return guests from Australia who choose to stay with us when in Queenstown. We also think our location is perfect and glad to hear you find the guest laundries helpful. It sounds like you pack a lot into your time in Queenstown so it's pleasing to read we can assist in making it a little easier for you.

The internet data limit has recently increased, and we also have the Mac stations in the lobby which are unlimited in terms of both time and data usage.

We look forward to you staying with us again.

There are so many better options in Queenstown than Novotel! We made the mistake of booking late for our final days of a 2 week NZ trip, so were kinda stuck here. Its a business hotel, that many tourists are drawn too, because its a familiar chain. We travel a LOT, and love high-end hotels & B&B, this is not. Maybe 3 star at best. The rooms are small for the money
( even the 4th floor renovated room), they charge you for in-room internet use, aside from the initial free 30 min ( its 2014!! What hotels charge for internet anymore?? Thats like charging for towels IMO!), plus they charge you an extra 1.5% at checkout for using a credit card to pay. Really?? OK, next time, I will pay with pennies. In addition, when asked if we could check out 30 min later than usual ( 90% of hotels will do this), the receptionist didn't even look to see if she could juggle the order of room cleaning to allow it, but simply replied,"sorry its not our policy". If you are in Queenstown, or if we return, I'd recommend the Rees Hotel ( GREAT service!) or the newer boutique hotel in town called the Spire. OR Amour bed & breakfast. For travelers from out of country, don't think you MUST be in downtown Queenstown to enjoy it. Rees has free shuttle service on the hour, there is a fantastic walking track along the lake to most other hotels or condos, and if you rent a car, there is a ton of cheap parking lots in Queenstown. Be adventuresome! Book a place that isn't a generic, chain hotel! It will be far better value for your money.

Dear Jennifer S,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We're disappointed to read you didn't enjoy your stay with us, as it is very much outside that of our regular reviews. We pride ourselves on our superior location and our guests enjoy being able to walk into town to the many great restaurants and bars nearby.

Our internet pricing throughout New Zealand and Australia is very different to that of other countries, and whilst there is still a cost for some services, we do have options available free of charge for our guests to use whilst they stay with us. It's very untoward of our Reception team not to try and accommodate you for an extended checkout, however at this time of year Queenstown is extremely busy in which our teams are trying their best to ensure everyone is well looked after.

We trust you enjoyed your time in our beautiful country and thank you again for the review.

FANTASTIC, BEAUTIFUL location next to lake and Queenstown Gardens. At end of town so you don't get noise but next to mall, shops and restaurants. Love the rose garden and lake access.

We tried to sleep with windows open to enjoy the fresh, clean air but our room was on street side and morning trucks and buses were too loud. We ended up keeping windows closed and sleeping with air conditioning. It was very quiet and we had a great sleep. Our kids' room overlooked the back and all the air conditioning units. There was no view but they did not require it.

Food and service is fine, but very low key. Buffet is good just not over the top. Coming from Middle East we are accustomed to high-end buffets and service.

Room service attendants change daily. Some came late. Two mornings the maids knocked on door and woke me up.

Concierges really know their town and are helpful with great contacts.
Taxis service is strangely inefficient. Two cab drivers did not know where the Novotel was.

Lobby fine but internet was short and expensive.

We stayed five nights and would definitely go to Queenstown again and stay at Novotel. Great hotel if you have kids and teens.

Room Tip: Book early to stay in courtyard/rose garden section facing the lake.

Dear EvaTheDragon,

Thanks for your review of the hotel, it's great to hear that you loved the hotel and it's close proximity to the city and gardens.

Queenstown is a busy place this time of year, so it's glad to hear you were able to get a good nights sleep with the windows closed. Apologies for the Housekeeping staff waking you up, I'll speak with the team to remind them of people sleeping in on holiday! It's great to hear you received great service from our Concierge teams, I'll definitely pass on that feedback to them.

Thanks again for your review and we trust you enjoy the rest of your holiday.
