“Amazing, Beautiful, Priceless - Dont Miss”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2014

This is just an amazing thing to do when you are there. Especially if you have kids. My 2 yr old loved it so much, and we did too!! This place is a bit unknown because it seems like they dont market themselves, but it is a truly hidden gem. I will not miss this place everytime I go to Queenstown. Great great great for kids. Staff are so friendly also. I can not reccomend it enough. My little one even god to touch a Tuatara!! How cool is that. If it is a nice day, take a picnic with you. It will be like dining in the gardens of eden. so much birdlife. Kiwi's are a minor part of what this place has to offer. there is so much more there for you. And it is right next to the Gandola so central. Dont miss this!!

“Great place to take the kids”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2014

Nothing to fault here, this park is a fantastic place to take the kids, I have taken my nieces and nephews several times over the years, watch those peskie greedy ducks they like to chase you if have your have food in your hands haha.

What they do for conservation and the fact your money is contributing to some great causes makes it very worth while. Make sure you are there for the conservation shows to learn more about this

Will definitely be back again.

“Lovely Park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

Honestly, yeah, we were a little bit iffy about paying $42 to see a kiwi (because let's face it, that's the only reason we went) but when we saw how much the people working at the park care for the birds, and how they don't get any funding from the government, it made the money we spent well worth it (and we got a good chunk of our souvenirs from their gift shop as well).

They release all of their kiwi into the wild after they've grown large enough to defend themselves (we learned that when young kiwi hatch their parents have nothing to do with them - they're automatically self sufficient. Unfortunately, until they're six months old they're so small they're easy prey for cats, dogs, stoats and other predators) and often have given birth to another set of kiwi to help keep the numbers up.

Most of the other birds they have on site seem to have been rescues of some kind, often having been hit by cars and likely unable to survive in the wild, they now make their home at the birdlife park.

It's a great way to spend an hour or two, get the audio guide, and definitely make sure you stay for the kiwi feeding and for the conservation show!

“A little oasis”

Great conservation park. Loved the show which was very informative and relaxed. Thought the entry price was a little over the top. Seeing the very active Kiwi was a highlight and my favourite the Kea.

“A very informative morning”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

Staff were very friendly and pleasant. We were offered the audio player to assist in our self guided tour which we politely declined. It would have added on to the experience but we do know we will not be able to use it peacefully with our very two young kids walking with us. Nevertheless, we did learn some great stuffs just by reading the signs at each enclosures. It is great to learn how the birds came into their care and some were unable to return to the wild due to their injury etc. And the ongoing breeding programs that they are currently working on are pretty impressive too.

Definitely the best place to locate a kiwi but no flash photography allowed as they are nocturnal lil birds:)! We especially enjoyed the conservation show. Very personal and informative. Paul (i think the name was), the general manager who hosted the show was a delight to listen to. Even our 4 year old actually paid attention to what he was saying!

It is an all weather activity and they provide umbrellas and there are ponchos to buy. blankets and heat packs were provided to keep us warm and comfortable during the show There are slightly steep hills and gravels on the footpath so might be a bit of a hard work to push stroller/wheelchair or for toddlers/very young kids to walk on their own but still manageable. Cafe on site had limited stuff when we visited. We took about 3 hours in total visiting this wonderful attraction. I do agree with some that the admission tickets are a little steep but it is great to know that the price helps in their breeding/conservation program.
