Arrived at 1.15pm only to be told by the rather rude receptionist that the room won't be ready until 3.45pm. Came back at 3.45pm and the room still wasn't ready until 4.15pm. Later, we discovered other families still waiting for their rooms at 6.30pm. This is utterly unacceptable from any hotel/apts anywhere. The couldn't-care-less attitude from reception didn't help. A simple 'sorry' would go a long way. At $267 per night, I was expecting better.

The room - 2-bed apt - was fairly nice, but only fairly and certainly didn't live up to the pictures on their website. The furniture is cheap and tacky and there was no extractor in the bathroom. The cleaning staff are next to useless. The parking facilities are very cramped - if you have anything bigger than a Corolla it's a difficult, tight park outside the apartment.

The location is ok, near enough to the centre of town, but it's a steep hill to walk up after a few drinks! Had previously stayed at the Copthorne, right next door to Garden Court a few months previous and only wish we'd chosen to stay there again instead.

I had made a reservation for a 1 BD with Balcony view almost 4 months in advance. Prior to departure, I called the property 3 times to confirm availability and room specs.

On arrival, the property looked great from the outside and the receptionist (Emma) very nicely handed me keys to a studio room despite confirming a 1 BD incl the price. On being quite stunned weith the intentional error in allotment, at first i was told that the room that was given to me was indeed a 1 BD (like I didnt know the diff between a studio & a 1bd). On expressing myself clearly, she then said that the 1 bd with balcony view are under renovation! We then settled for a 1 bd with courtyard view. Had I not objected, i would have stayed in the worst studio aprtment with a view of the jungle paying rates for a 1 BD (she claimed this aprtment to bear the best views). So my advise to fellow travellers is to view this property with a pinch of salt.

The location is ok, walking distance to the center of the town but I did come across better options right in the center. The aprtments by itself is pretty ok - bathroom, living room, bedroom...the service though is horrible. I had to call several times for house cleaning after which they did a pitful job. On asking the recrption if i can check out half an hour later - the immed answeerr was a rude NO. Breakfast has very little option.

All in all, i wouldnt visit this place again neither would i suggest to other honeymooners.

We booked a 1 bed luxury apt with balcony for 3 people for 2 nights at $237 per night.

The overall 1st impressions were good with good facilities but when we made up the sofa bed it still had the sheets on from previous occupants. The dishwasher hadn't been cleaned & contained nuts & other detritus. The bedroom needed dusting & cleaning behind the bedside tables where the plug sockets were.

When the sofa bed was made up there was only 1 easy chair in the open plan kitchen/lounge area. The bedroom only had a high narrow window. Not quite as depicted when we booked.

The balcony gave good views of the lake & mountain range but was narrow with only 2 chairs.

The bathroom was fairly basic with shower over the bath - not the walk in shower as pictured on their web site for a 1 bed luxury appt.

Overall it did not live up to the web site pictures of their luxury appartments and we would not stay there again.

We stayed here 3 nights in Dec 2008. We had a gorgeous 2-bedroom luxury apartment. It is a mansionette with an ensuite room upstair, and another room and a second bathroom downstair. The living room has high ceiling, and a balcony that has view of lake Wakatipu. The upstair room has a sliding window that looks down onto the living room. The kitchen downstair is well equipped and large. There is a large TV on the wall of the living room, and a small one in the room upstair. The entrance of our apartment is on the second floor through the balcony. There is a 1-bedroom apartment on the ground floor. So if you have heavy luggages, it can be challenging to bring them up. We were fine though. Our apartment was serviced once during our stay. Newspaper was delivered free upon request. The checking-in and -out were done efficiently, and the reception staff were prompt and willing to help.
The hotel premise is well-maintained and clean. It is well located, just outside downtown. The walk into town is leisurely less than 10 mins. as you are walking downhill. The return trip will be more challenging but not impossible, as the slope is only a short one. The botanic garden and lake front are also walking distances from the hotel. Walking from hotel to lake is downhill, but we happened to walk back from botanioc garden to hotel. The uphill slope is much more steeper than the one from town to hotel. But all 5 of us (youngest 7 and oldest 60) made it to the top. However, once is enough!
Overall, this is an excellent apartment, and my favourite among the 6 that I stayed in during our entire trip.

We stayed here twice, once recently and also last winter. I think this place is a comparative bargain and if you can get one of their top rooms with separate bathroom and open plan kitchen area for $200 a night like we did, then you can’t really go wrong.

Receptionist was helpful and friendly.

This is half the cost of some Queenstown Hotels and yet is still only a five, at most ten minute walk from the centre of town.

Highly recommended.

I had booked an apartment for five nights and got a bit worried as I had to pay in advance and read a couple of terrible stories from other travellers. However, the apartment was great, spacious, had a lovely view, was reasonably clean and well-serviced and had excellent amenities. The bathroom was just great, loved the spa....and there's also plenty of parking space.

It is definitely not a budget accommodation nor a hotel, therefore I did not expect the reception staff to be very informative, nor highly skilled, . There was work in progress on site (just next door) so there was a bit of noise occasionally in the morning. However, it was not unbearable and almost undetectable in the living room.

Pros: all the above

Cons: Construction site almost next-door

I was so impressed with this place. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment - room 19 - and asked specially for a nice view when booking. Well the view could not have been better. While this hotel is not on the water - you'll pay alot more for this - you are situated at such a height that it makes absolutely no difference that you have a house or two infront of you. The view is stunning and I personally liked the way the apartment was decorated - it felt very cosy and warm. The heater in the bathroom was very welcome, as was the spa jets in the bath - a nice surprise. My one criticism was all the pillows on the bed were incredibly soft, but that would only be if I was really looking for a criticism. Next time we return to Queenstown, we won't hesitate in knowing where to book.
