Was disappointed in the under floor heating as all of a couple of tiles were slightly heated. Luke warm temp. Also the room service wasn't too crash hot as beds weren't completely Hurleys hotel trip advisor review (draft)

Was disappointed in refurbishment and under floor heating almost non existent. Also the room service wasn't too crash hot as beds weren't completely made.  Quilt left on floor unfolded and not either put back on beds or put away in draws or cupboards. Showers were cold after the 2nd shower.  security of the ground floors were terrible. If we had left our windows open to air our rooms anyone was easily able to slide their dirty little hand in, unlock our sliding door and walk in and help themselves to whatever they could find! . Quilt left on floor unfolded and not either put back on beds or put away in draws or cupboards. Showers were cold after 2nd wash!

Thankyou for staying with us at Hurley's of Queenstown. I have spoken to the housekeeping staff and we have reviewed how we service rooms and handle bedspreads that have been removed by guest.
The underfloor heating did have a malfunction in June and may have been at the time you stayed. Apologies this has now been rectified. Always tell the staff if you are cold as we have additional heaters that we can provide.
The ground floor doors all have dead bolts and if activated you can not enter the room from outside. The windows have a 8 inch gap.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Room was good with nice spa bath. Small problem with carrying suitcase upstairs as I am not a big lady. A luggage lift would be helpful. Great view of the gondola and hang-gliding. Handy to town but not too close.

Room Tip: Try for a ground floor room so as not to have to struggle with the stairs and luggage.

We know this isn't a fair comparison. We know we visited in the trough of the off season. But dammit, this was amazing!

We arrived at Hurley's of Queenstown halfway through our honeymoon, with it playing the part of shining safe haven following a more dramatic transit than expected via highway 6. (Again, we said at the start this wasn't fair.) Fair warning to folks driving south from Fox Glacier or points north-budget some extra time for the drive, as the highway often needs repairs after a strong rain during the night. If you think you might be late, CALL AHEAD - their check-in desk closes at 8, pretty much no matter what. We did call, and they were fine leaving our keys out for us to retrieve (and were very courteous when we did end up showing up a few minutes before 8), but if we hadn't called...

Anyway, you're wanting to read about this hotel, not our adventuring, so! The room was spacious, comfortable, and had more tv channels available than anywhere else we stayed in NZ. Also, we unexpectedly got upgraded from a standard room to a full suite with a kitchen (no, not a kitchenette, a kitchen, with a full fridge, an oven, a french press for coffee and a turkey roasting pan in case it was needed) and a second floor. The view from the second-floor bedroom was amazing, dominated mostly by The Remarkables just across the lake. There isn't much direct view of Lake Wakatipu, but, again...The Remarkables. The living room couch was comfortable (did I mention it had a living room?), the dining room table was comfortable to eat at (did I mention it had a dining room?), and the balcony had nice views of the stars and the Skyline Gondola complex at the top of Bob's Peak.

It is a quick (~5 minute) walk to town, where there are plenty of restaurants and activities around the lake; the walk back is up a fairly steep hill, but it's just one block (and there's a bench partway up). If you're staying out late (past 10ish), Devil Burger is still open, and there is a convenience shop open 24 hours right by where you're heading back to the hotel.

We stayed here for three nights; we used the laundry facilities (good), but didn't use the gym (just didn't have time, busy with the town and all). The parking lot was a little tight, but we didn't need the car while we were in the hotel; when we left, the drive to the airport took only about 15 minutes (even though it was on the other side of town).

Basic gist: book a trip to Queenstown in October and stay at Hurley's. You won't regret it.

Stayed in 2 room unit on 3rd floor. Rooms big and spacious fairly warm although size of heater in 2nd room should be bigger as room was slightly chilly. Kitchenette was adequately stocked with cooking utensils. Breakfast was stocked in fridge and replenished daily.
Happy with our stay in Hurleys for 3 nights.
One drawback is 2nd bathroom only has shower and washbasin but no toilet. View from room was of the cable car. View from front of hotel is better as we can see gorgeous view of snow covered mountains. Going to town was not a problem as we had a rental car. Hotel very quiet as it was low season.

Hi there, just a caution when placing a booking.
We booked though booking.com on the 5/5 for a trip in september. They've charged us already in full! I contacted them as I assumed my credit card was just to secure the booking, but they told me as our booking is non-refundable and because we chose a cheaper rate with a no cancellation clause, we are screwed. Basically depsite the fact we are not staying there for another 4 months, they need to charge us in full to secure the booking.
Of course I could understand if they charged us if we didn't turn up or something. I guess its my fault for not seeing the small print. Normally booking.com is awesome cause they don't charge in advance, but they said have no control over this vendor and their own policies.
I would just be cautious as the girl on their phone said that is the normal policy to charge in full at time of booking for most of their reservations. She was adament that its my fault for not reading their policy and that they would not refund my money and recharge us closer to the time. I'm pretty pissed off about it, as this is my money and I don't get why should we have to pay so far in advance. Credit cards are dangerous like this I guess!
What a shame as they are the only vendor we have booked with who have this policy. It would definitely put us off booking with them again. On the up side the place looks nice though, so despite their frustrating policy of taking your money well in advance I hope our stay will be good.

Thanks for your booking and comments. When you placed the booking with booking.com there were many options you could have chosen. You chose the instant purchase (lowest rate) and therefore the booking conditions are - payment is taken immediately and the booking is non refundable and can't be cancelled. It is really important to read the conditions as once booked the conditions apply.

Nice big rooms - 2 toilets - easily within walking distance of the town cente - my main complaint was the impersonal checkin where an ipad was thrust across the counter and hardly a word was spoken - would stay there again though
