Recently spent four nights / five days at Peppers Hotel in Queenstown in three bedroom penthouse on floor seven.

Amazing views of the landscape around Queenstown, the Remarkables and district views had difficulty getting off balcony .

Greta holiday destination with plenty of choices, accommodation was fantastic with comfortable rooms , large kitchen , great TV room and fireplace to enjoys the lake view of a few beers.

Ease of access to downtown central only a short walk or plenty of undercover parking in secured parking lot.

Room Tip: Level seven

This is our 3rd visit, each time getting a 1bd Suite. The location is great, easy 5-10 minute walk into town. The 1bd units all have a nice lake view. Ask for one of the ones with the large balcony and if you really want to push your luck ask for a large balcony with a hot tub. Look out for special rates , where you get stay 2 nights and one free. Good way to break up a trip have 3 days, go away to Milford for a day or two then come back for a few more that way you maximize the free nights. The full kitchen and laundry facilities are great to have if you are there for a few days. There is a grocery store down shotover 5-10 minute walk but if you have a car the New World store has a lot more selection.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the ones with the large balcony and if you really want to push your luck ask for a large balcony with a hot tub

I stayed at Peppers for two nights in October.

I chose a standard Hotel Room, which was the cheapest option, because this journey was about a hiking holiday and I didn't want to spend much on accommodation. It cost me about $145 per night including a continental breakfast.

In terms of price, by Queenstown standards, this truly was excellent value.

The location is also good - lakeside and about 8 minutes walk from the town centre.

I also had a modest but pleasant water view.

There was a major downside to my stay. I was distrurbed both evenings and early in the morning by the noise of people talking, walking and cluttering around even though there was only one adjacent room on the same level. It was not partying noise, it was just general people movement and conversation. I am assuming it was from the room next door. It could have been from above. It is a long time since I have stayed somewhere with 'people noise' being so evident. This may not be true of every room - it is a large complex with a variety of room layouts but for standard hotel room 207 it was an issue.

A minor point of disappointment were that the breakfast room is a most uninspiring space tucked back in the building. Why not a lake view or a view into the internal courtyard. The continental breakfast included in the price was welcome in concet but very ordinary.

The vanity unit in the bathroom was badly water damaged.

Great price but ......

My wife and I loved Peppers Beacon until I parked our car in the Top Car Park.
I parked at the end of the parking cubicles.
Where 2 cars park end on end so no damage is done,by another vehicles doors in the cubicles.
In the morning I noticed water from the concrete floor above(ceiling) had been dripping over my vehicle.
We went to Frankton shopping center and I noticed the liquid had a white stain around the dried marks.
I have tried to remove these marks, but they have eaten into the paint work.
I phoned this hotel and spoke to the manager on the Monday we arrived home,he told me he new of no leaks, and you park at your OWN RISK.

Can't speak highly enough of Peppers Beacon - beautiful, spotlessly clean room and spectacular views, superb and prompt service from all staff. We stayed at Peppers for the last 2 nights of our NZ trip but unfortunately stayed at another Hotel for the 1st night. We only wish we had have chosen Peppers for the first night as well. If we ever come back to Queenstown we will definitely return to Peppers.

Room Tip: This was a 10th floor corner hotel room with beautiful views across to Queenstown and up the lake.
