This hotel met all our expectations and more. Our suite was beautifully appointed with everything we could wish for with a lovely gas fire on in room and hot bread baking on our arrival. The continental breakfasts were fantastic. No need to have a hot breakfast. I do suggest you have it in the breakfast room as the room delivered one not as good.
You can walk into the town in 5 min which means you dont need to get your car out unless going further afield.
The views were just amazing.

On reading many reviews about Peppers Beacon Queenstown, I always avoided this place. Knowing Queenstown well, having spent majority of my holidays there, I knew Peppers was in a pristine location and looked very desirable, but the reviews put me off. It so happened that the place nearby that we had booked was having water problems, so I popped into Peppers and asked if we could have a look at a 2 bedroom apartment - it was breathtaking. We booked and Peppers has become our new favourite location in Queenstown. The decor of our room was beautiful, and in keeping with the rustic look and feel that makes Queenstown so unique. This spacious apartment had a wonderful warm gas fire place - so homely, and the sofa was comfy - most places I have stayed in the sofas are a big let down. The kitchen had every mod con of any designer kitchen, although a little lacking on crockery, cutlery, and accessories. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in - my husband wanted to bring it home. Each bedroom had its own small ensuite, which was convenient while staying with friends. The continental breakfast was the best continental breakfast I have had - no need to pay the extra $10 for the cooked breakfast - there was more than adequate selection in the continental, and the chef's are very obliging. Breakfast is included in the price. If I owned Peppers the only improvements I would make, would be to better equip the kitchens, free wifi, DVD player in apartments, free Sky Movies and put an outdoor jacuzzi/pool in the courtyard. Thank you for a wonderful stay - we will definitely be back. Did I mention the view - one of the best in Queenstown and all with your own LARGE patio with table and chairs - all this within a short FLAT walking distance to the town centre.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1014 - couldn't fault it. We were able to walk directly through a short dista...

We chose a one bedroom apartment with lake views. The view was panoramic of Lake Whakatipu and the Remarkables, along with looking back onto Queenstown shopping area. All was faultless, large outdoor deck with outdoor furniture, designer full kitchen, large gas fire, all furniture of exceptional class. Amazing value, would fully recommend, we intend to return.

Room Tip: Would imagine all rooms would be of exceptional quality.

I recently went to Queenstown for a girls weekend, we stayed in a lovely garden view two bedroom apartment which I couldn't fault. The bedrooms were a good size, one shared bathroom - perhaps we could have done with two mainly for the mirrors, full kitchen and our room walked straight out onto the courtyard with bbq's and seating which would be lovely in summer. Other reviews have suggested the hotel layout is pokey, it's on different levels and in separate parts but I didn't find this a problem, the lifts were quick to get us to where we needed to be.

Our room included continental breakfast which had a nice selection of cereals, toast, pastries, cold meats, smoked salmon, cheeses, juices, tea and coffee. The only disappointing thing about the room where breakfast was held was there were no windows so we couldn't see the lovely lake views.

The hotel is across the road from the lake and about a 10 minute flat walk back into the heart of Queenstown. Staff were friendly and helpful, there was free basement parking which was a bonus and we were even able to stay parked there after check out until we left town.

I would recommend this to others and stay here again.

Room Tip: We had a corner, garden view apartment which was lovely and I never heard any other guests.

Stayed at Peppers Beacon Queenstown with family for two days. Although it was a short stay but very pleasant. We stayed in one of the lake view apartments with a fabulous view of the awesome wakitiku lake. The two bedroom apartment was spacious with a fireplace in the living area. Sitting in front of the fireplace and sipping a drink looking at the lake, fantastic.
The place was well appointed with modern furniture and other amenities with a nesspresso machine in the kitchen, which made lovely coffee. The breakfast was included but the sore point was that the cooked breakfast was excluded. However we could easily upgrade for extra payment.
The staff was helpful and so was the free wi fi but I could never get through due to poor connectivity. Did not eat in the Hotel as plenty of eating options were available at the walking distance city centre.Always choose a lake view room while booking.

I have to say upfront that we paid a bargain rate for this property and I expected the smallest of rooms. That said the rooms (3) that I booked were absolutely fine for our 2 night stay. We had a small view of the lake opposite the hotel which made for a changing picture. The in room facilities were good and what you would expect from a quality hotel chain. One surprise twist was the option to order a bread maker & ingredients to set yourself up for some fresh baked bread late in the day. It's not free but different.
It was the general feel of the hotel that surprised us. Reception is very small and bland and there is absolutely nothing but scratched and tired wall surfaces on every floor to greet you as you move through the hotel to your room. There's also a strange arrangement with half the hotel accessed via a different bank of lifts and you have to change over through a carpark on level 4 or across an open landscaped courtyard area on level 5.
It's a flat and scenic walk into the heart of town from the property and plenty of cafes and restaurants. We loved the atmosphere in Queenstown and of course did the gondola ride and luge ride at the very top accessible from the top of the gondola. Adventure activities are very expensive so make sure you come with plenty of cash. A visit to Arrowtown about 20 minutes drive from Queenstown is highly recommended. Autumn is a beautiful time to visit for colour, fresh weather but not bitter winter cold and a peek of snow high on the mountains.

Booked four one bedroom rooms approx. six weeks in advance ,only to be called 36hours before our check in to be told they had no rooms as they had overbooked the hotel, they did find us some rooms, one was an ok two bed unit, the other three very tiny shoeboxes. This whole hotel is so disjointed, eg,have to take two lifts to go anywhere. The room we had you had to go outside in the rain to get to it, bloody hopeless. I called to confirm this was a 5star hotel, was told yes,in my opinion this cannot be 5star.The rooms where clean, but ours had a bad body odour smell. Never again.

Dear Generalrecall,

Thank you for using Trip Advisor to review your time at Peppers Beacon. We value your feedback and would like to speak with you again regarding the details of your stay.

To make the most of capturing the views over Lake Wakatipu the property was designed with two towers, levels 1-5 and then levels 6-10 in the back tower. It can be a little confusing at first for some when walking through the garage or gardens from the front tower to the rear tower but we try and make is as easy as possible with path signage or room familiarization on arrival. Many guests prefer the height advantage this affords to secure higher views where others prefer the front building for the sense of being closer to the lake. We try and meet requests for either wherever possible.

New Zealand's official rating organisation, Qualmark, grade the property every year and have consistently awarded the resort a 5 star serviced apartment status. It is not something we actively promote but third party partners use to position the property in the market place. The criteria does differ slightly from a 5 star hotel or 5 star hosted property for example. I am very sorry that we failed to provide the wow factor for your stay as expected in this regard.

Your feedback will also help us to position the property at a level that is accurate wherever possible. Once again thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you again.

Kind regards,
