“Great stay in a great location”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

We found Queenstown to be an interesting location among our Kiwi travels but if you are going to stay there, than this is the place. The apartment is spacious with a great balcony looking out over Lake Wakatipu. The location puts you within an easy walk to the lake, shopping, and great restaurants, as well as a super grocery store (Mediterranean Deli) if you are foodies. The decor is modern, a bit reminiscent of a ski condo in Colorado. There is a great fireplace in the living room and the appliances are adequate for simple kitchen tasks. The pots, pans, and cutlery were a bit limiting for anything extravagant cooking wise, but we managed through it. The house "manual" is pretty comprehensive with plenty of tips on navigating your way around. Wifi is good but the Sky TV system was a bit confusing unless you are well versed in operating multiple remotes. The down side of being centrally located is, with this being somewhat of a party town (at least while we were there), the noise can carry on to the wee hours of the morning... mildly noticeable but not sleep depriving.

All in all, a great spot for a few couples (we were just two people) to enjoy the festivities Queenstown has to offer. On a side note, taxis are over-the-top expensive but we found the bus system to be more than adequate, even for transportation to and from the airport.

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to noise, pick one of the front bedrooms to rest your weary head.

We spent nine nights here. The accommodation is beautiful and you are in within walking distance to all that Queenstown has to offer.

From a cleanliness perspective the first thing we found when we drew the curtains was a pair of someone else's socks.

As far as sleeping goes, if you don't like music / noise till 3am don't sleep in the master bedroom as the noise from the bars / pubs is very loud.

We ended up swapping to one of the back bedrooms after a couple of nights. While the staff were helpful in making up the beds to accommodate this it wasn't an ideal situation.

On the day before we left we had lunch at the Ale House on the ground floor (beautiful food and great value). Our children had finished and wanted to go back to the apartment. We stayed on for around 15 mins then followed them up. Imagine our horror to find two workmen using the apartment as access to the roof!

We were not notified by anyone that this would be happening and apart from our biggest concern being that our children were in the apartment we also had our passports / money etc lying around.

That afternoon we also had the property manager letting herself in to apologize, the workmen leaving and a visit from Touch of Spice to offer us free cookies and a bottle of wine - not good enough and very invasive.

Room Tip: Don't sleep in the master bedroom - too light and too noisy

We spent four nights here. We was a bit concerned as there were no reviews. But we saw a video on their web side and that convinced us to go for it. I can tell you the moment we opened the door, we were impressed. Everything there is to make you feel at home. The place is big. Two terraces. One looking out directly at the lake. A gorgeous view. The place is very clean. Decorations are perfect. A kitchen with some food in the refrigerator. A laundry machine with detergents. Jacuzzi. Lots of extras. The place is so comfortable you want to spend more time here. And the location is absolutely right. For the money we paid it is rather cheap for a penthouse. And the management was very helpful if we needed anything. It is not a hotel. Just an apartment but a gorgeous one.
