Kevin Mccloud would love it on grand designs!! Beautiful lounge huge windows with exceptional views! The breakfast was more of a feast, great spread kept us going all day! Short pleasant scenic walk to town the bus from airport stops just outside so perfect location, would highly recommend!!

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 February 2012

It seems to be 4 years since anyone reviewed Amokura Lodge. It is still,a great place to stay. Jenny, the owner, is really welcoming and is very helpful about all aspects of the Queenstown area. The accommodation is spacious, and the lounge area was beautifully furnished, with great views. Breakfast is always very filling with a wide choice available. Jenny's scrambled eggs with herbs were magical. In the evening Jenny serves all her guests wine, beer etc and we had a great time chatting with her about our experiences during the day. I have no qualms about recommending Amokura lodge to anyone, except backpackers, who may just find it beyond their price range!!

I'd be guessing that there are not too many places where the actual view is more breathtaking that the photos the place advertises. Amokura is a purpose built luxury B&B overlooking the lake in queenstown. www.amokua.lodge.co.nz
Imagine waking up to a scerene lake and mountain range (the remarkables) from your own personal living area or bed room. If you're going to stay, go the whole hog and request the remarkables suite which boasts a private apartment area. My wife and i spent our first anniversary here. I'm a kiwi by birth and was completely floored for the view. Jenny (the owner) also provides a 6pm glass or 5 of wine and some great history on the place. Just go here.... don't pay a second thought. Don't forget its luxury but i consider the price tag purely secondary to the experience. I on occasion hesitate recommending a place to family and friends since i normally have a small element of doubt that they will have the same experience as me....not this place, if you go you'll have to go back. The view i've attached is genuine and what you will see when you wake up in the morning.
