“Great location, great views”
Reviewed 28 November 2013

It is all of 7 minutes to walk to the main street along a lakeshore walkway. Quite surprised that someone felt this was far from town?! Guess there are people who forget how to walk. There are several motel/apartments along Lakefront Drive and all are well situated.

If you do not drive, you need to walk a very long walk. Hotel is very far from town centre. It is at the very end of the main road facing the lake. Room is big and clean. They have the normal full facilities of a hotel. We had a room on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator. We had to carry our heavy luggage up the staircase. No big deal. Just sharing.
Another thing to take note, at the end of the common corridor (2nd level where our room was), there is an exit door. The door brings you out of the hotel. The door can be opened from inside but once you are outside, you CANNOT go back in. I was caught. The morning i was there, i saw very beautiful sunrise from my room. I decide to go out and take some photos of the sunrise. Lazy to go through the main lobby exit, I took the side door, not knowing it would not open from the outside. In the end, I had to make one big round back to the main lobby door to go in. I guess this is one very good security feature of the hotel. Thumbs up.

Dear Reviewer,
Thank you for taking the time to post a review after you recent stay at the hotel. Your commented that the hotel is far from the town centre, however the 10 minute walk into town is a very enjoyable one along the lakefront. I hope you got some good photos of the sunrise that morning and you went out a fire exit door which only opens outwards.

Kind Regards

This is a well located hotel with views across the road to the lake. The rooms are adequate with views of the lake and mountains, no safe and 20 mins free wifi per day in the hotel lobby. There is a pleasant bar and restaurant with good value meals and wines. There is a guest laundry costing 3 dollars for washing and the same for drying.

Very good value, great room, great breakfast. A $99 bed and breakfast package set us up for the 125th Anniversary Heritage Milford Track walk. Happy to recommend and or stay there again. Handy to everything in Te Anau.

Booked a $99 bed and breakfast package and thought it would be pretty basic, but we were wrong! Room was big, very clean with a lovely bathroom and very quiet. Staff were polite and helpful - made it really easy to do a boat trip in the Milford Sound, arriving in plenty of time - the whole place was welcoming. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Hotel is handily situated with beautiful views. Next time we are down that way, know where we will be staying!
