ASURE Amber Court Motel

Certificate of Excellence

We booked the Amber Court Motel after reading other reviews and we were most impressed. We stayed 3 nights in a lovely clean and spacious room which was serviced daily. Large LCD TV's in both the lounge and bedroom as well as great heaters in both areas. The motel grounds were also clean, tidy and very well presented. Room prices were the cheapest of all the motels we stayed at but the service and accommodation were by far the best, nicest and cleanest. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

We stayed here for 2 nights, either side of a trip to Milford Sound. Nice quiet location, but only a few minutes in the car into Te Anau, which was larger than we had expected. Craig was very helpful, and even got us started on the Asure 10 nights for 9 programme. The unit was a good size, well heated and very clean and comfortable. The only downside was the wet room, but apparently, this is due for conversion in the near future. Good parking right outside the unit.

I'd checked TA reviews before booking this motel and we were not disappointed.

It's well located, a short walk from the lake and town.

Our room suited us perfectly and it was nice to have plenty of space to move around, particularly after the tiny room we had in Queenstown.

We found the accommodation spotless, spacious and warm and well set up for self-catering. It was quiet and parking was easy enough (because there were no other guests and I could wrangle the rental car with ease!).

Our host was helpful, and was dead on correct in his predictions for the next day's weather - we had a beautiful day in Milford.

The only drawback for us was the Internet service. Yes, it was free, but it was slow to the point of being useless.

Thank you very much for your review, Craig and I are thrilled to hear you had a good stay and hope you enjoyed your time in Fiordland. We apologise for the poor Wi-Fi, we realise how frustrating it is when the Wi-Fi is free but useless, as we have experienced this ourselves while on holiday. Just after your stay our Wi-Fi technician detected a faulty piece of hardware within the Wi-Fi system. The fault was intermittent, making it difficult to identify as it would work correctly most of the time (including the first three times the technician came to sort the problem out) but then completely interupt the Wi-Fi at times, as you experienced. We have changed to a entirely new Wi-Fi system which is easy to use, and have had a great response from guests so far. Thank you very much for your understanding and patience.
Kind Regards, Your Hosts Jill & Craig.

Asure Amber Court is in a good location slightly away from the Town but within walking distance along promenade by Lake. Spacious rooms, well stocked and clean. Helpful guides to Restaurants and Activities in the rooms. (If you love fishing then fish jet Te Anau is a must). The proprietor Craig could not have been more helpful including giving us a lift to the bus station at 7.45am on Sunday morning! We would stay again without hesitation.

I can highly recommend this Motel to all. We had a very comfortable and warm few nights there just this month (July 2013) It was lovely to be helped out by Craig and Jill, with where to go that was good with children, where to eat and the local things that were going on in the evening. It made us feel part of the family and not like an outsider. We chose it because it seemed good value and we were not mistaken. Also because we wanted to break up the long drive to Milford and back. We found it lovely to stay in such a clean and fresh place, especially with children to consider. Also the beds were comfortable and the sheets like new, with big puffy pillows to sink into. I also want to say how it was warm and dry, not cold and damp, like some places we have stayed before. Many thanks to Craig and Jill. See you again if we get out that way, The suttons.

We were looking for 1 bedroom unit (to sleep 3) in a Qualmark 4 star motel for a 2 night stay, close to the town centre. Most properties on the lakeside drive seems to be exhorbitantly priced for my comfort. After email exchanges with the properties that made our shortlist, we settled for ASURE.

What we liked:
The warmth of the owner, Craig
Tastefully done up rooms
Separate TVs in the bedroom and the sitting area
The price

What we couldn't relate to:
Taps in the bathroom (there were separate hot and cold water taps, rather than a mixer tap)
The access to the bathroom being through the bedroom rather than the Sitting area (given that the sitting area also has a bed that sleeps one person)
If there were 2 of us and we opted for a studio room in summertime, none of the above points would have mattered.

We used Amber Court as a base for two nights and during the day visited both Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound. Our room had very nice décor including a picture of Mitre Peak, an apt choice. Large flatscreen TV and comfy superking bed make this a good value for money motel. I would stay again if visiting Te Anau. Staff were helpful when I had difficulty connecting to wifi with my new ipad.
