We went on a day when it was raining which is every 2 out of 3 days and we paid extra for a wildlife tour. The water was very stormy and we saw absolutely no wildlife only lots and lots of waterfalls!

We absolutely loved our trip to Milford Sound. The drive from Te Anau was magical. Within 5 minutes of setting off three dolphins swam under our bow at full speed. They were jumping and spinning round and round playing with the boat. It was so heartwarming (we we needed as it was -6 degrees when we got there). The scenery was mind blowing, we got right under the waterfalls, literally, we saw a yellow eyed penguin (rarest in world apparently), seals and loads of birds. Every turn the boat made revealed another beautiful view.

We did the underwater discovery centre on the way back which is an underwater viewing platform allowing you to see how rich the life is underneath the surface.

We went with Mitre Peak which I would do again. The boat was the smallest which meant you felt a bit more connected with the staff and captain, who gave the excellent commentary. We wouldn't have got so close to the dolphins either on a larger boat (which we experienced on the way back for the discovery centre - we did see them again but it was more difficult to get close.

Kids loved it. I would travel all the way back again from London to see the sounds again. I liked it so much I'd want to do an overnight and maybe Doubtful or others.

I was impressed with the beautiful nature in New Zealand. Milford sound is another place that I cannot miss. I booked the first cruise of the day. It took about 1.5 hours to drive from Te Anau. The 2-hour cruise was great. The fjord is beautiful. The waterfall is awesome. Apart from the seal, if you are lucky you may see dolphin swimming along the cruise. I would definitely go there again.

I would highly recommend doing a kayak of Milford Sound.

Such a great way to see the beautiful scenery, clear blue water and cute seals!

Absolute must see when visiting the South Island.

We booked a trip at top 10 holiday park, is a Milford Sound day trip, with buffet lunch on cruise, coach pick up at accommodation and discovery centre, it cost NZ$175 per person ($165 when you are member of top 10). Before your book, better check weather. We have a beatiful weather. Coach will stop some brilliant view that you can take a photo. We board the cruise around 1200, and just after departing, buffet start. Lunch is brilliant. However, you might miss lots of brilliant view just like us. We feel it just like you go onto cruise just for lunch, and after you finish your lunch, whole cruise nearly back to dock. discovery centre is not valuable at all, both of us (we four) think it waste our money and time, do not go there. i think we waste money. So do not go for Discovery package, choice some others. Milford Sound definitely must do, just care which package you choice.
