Quite the drive to get here from Queenstown, and the drive is pretty awesome itself! The line this time at the tunnel was not as long as I remember from back in 2007.

The cruise is about 1-2 hours I recall. That seems long but when taking in all the scenery on the way to the Tasman, the time flies by. Be sure to bring rain gear in case you’re taken by the waterfall!

Amazing place - both the road trip in and out, plus the boat trip on the Sound. The road would be quite treacherous in poor weather, but we had a beautiful day.

If you get the opportunity for a cruise on Milford Sound, take it. It's not cheap, whoever you go with, but it's a magical place. Getting under waterfalls on the bow of a ship is a lifelong memory.

Half of the wonder is the drive up. Stay in Te Anau so you can afford yourself a whole day and hike around the trails. Bring warm clothes and food for lunch as there aren’t any options other than the food on the boats. Leave lots of time for pictures along the way.

This is a stunning, incredible part of the world that is an absolute must see. Beware of the sandflies, you’ll have bites that’ll last for weeks. Wear repellent, trust me.
