“Great for one day walking!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2014 via mobile

I done most part of it on 3 separate days. First time from te anau to brod bay and return, the forest is awesome and it's easy. Second time from rainbow reach to shallow bay (not on the main circle),3hours return,it's easier and the view of river and bay is good, plus a wetland on a branch. Third time from brod bay (water taxi) to mt. Luxmore and return back to control gate,it took me 9 hours, so tired but worth. I have to say on the way to top of the mountain ,the view of the lake and the shape of mountains are unforgettable amazing. But it takes more time so I didn't go into the cave which is near the hut.

“Fantastic walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014

The Kepler Track is a New Zealand great walk and as such has high quality huts and tracks for walkers. We walked anti-clockwise. Route finding was very easy and the graded track often a metre wide! The huts are modern and in picturesque locations. We were lucky with the weather as the 2nd day is a highlight partly dependent on good visibility. The rangers in each hut were knowledgeable and sometimes humourous which was fun. The only negative we experienced was loud snoring in one hut - be prepared with earplugs if this is likely to bother you! Huts were clean and fuel plentiful. We found it also worth completing the loop along the Waiau River from Rainbow Reach to the Control Gates.

“Amazing views, company and facilities”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2014

We hiked the Kepler track in over the Easter long weekend. It was just us as a couple hiking however other people hiking the track were so friendly and by the first night we had made a small group comprised of people from various places across the globe. What a wonderful experience to see this amazing country and to share it with people of such diverse backgrounds.

As with all of the major tramping tracks in NZ the track was in good condition and the accommodation/shelters were fantastic. The views from the kepler track are absolutely stunning and we will definitely be returning to NZ to tick another of the Great Walks off our 'to do list'.

A word of advice. We walked in the direction of brod bay --> luxmore hut --> Iris Burn Hut --> on the third day we walked all the way back to the control gate carpark (did the last two days in one). First, I wouldn't recommend doing the last two days in one. If you want to only walk for 3 days arrange a bus pick up from Rainbow Reach carpark back to the start. 32km's was alot after the decent from the day before. Leading from this, the second recommendation is that it may be an idea to walk the track in the reverse direction to that which we did. The decent on the second day is a killer and may be best done as an ascent. We think that the ascent/decent to luxmore hut may be a little more forgiving.

“only did a little bit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

we only went 7km in and returned (3hrs) but were so impressed with the track & surroundings that we plan to make a return and do a better job of it. Everyone on it seems to be so friendly too, must be the clean fresh air

“Great for short walks too”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2014 via mobile

We only had a few hours so started at rainbow reach which is 10 km out of Te Anau towards manapori. Walked through beautiful rainforest beside the river. Alongside wetlands. Easy walk along a well marked track.
