“Great sights at Doubtful Sound”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

I loved being on the boat and seeing the islands up close. I was interested to see the underground power station too.

“This is a must do”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

We booked on an overnight trip Fiordland Expeditions booked with Mandy and this was so efficient and on arrival we were met by Dave and Alan our crew for the trip. From the trip across the lake to the mini bus ride to the boat was superb and then the fun started on the boat with a comfortable cabin and and plenty of room for the 8 of us on the boat. We travelled the Doubtful Sound to the sea and there some excellent fishing followed by Dave finding some lovely crayfish all served for dinner in the evening, a meal to be remembered. The trip also included kayaking, dolphins swimming alongside the boat playing in the swell for over 15 minutes. The food on board and provided was much better than expected and would highly recommend.

“Experience of a lifetime”
Reviewed 2 July 2014 via mobile

My friend and me went on an overnight cruise with Real Journeys during the off season for only $206. We loved every single minute of it. Doubtful Sound is just so stunning, it makes you realise how much we miss out on nature while living in cities. The nature guide was really helpful and always knew something interesting about all the animals (mainly birds, seals and penguins). The food was amazing, we got to kayak and swim as well. Overall, it was one of my favourite things in whole New Zealand. If you're not decided yet you should definitely spend some quality time in Doubtful Sound rather than visiting overcrowded Milford Sound. Whilst they are both stunning Milford Sound is too touristy to take the nature in properly. Doubtful Sound is definitely all about your encounter with nature.

We cruised the Sound on the Fiordland Navigator, a small sail rigged and diesel powered cruise ship. We were treated to two spectacular sunny days,, a starry night, a knowledgeable and informative captain and crew and bountiful meals. We took this trip at the end of our NZ vacation, and it was beautiful and restful after spending many days traveling the island by car. I would recommend doing this trip at the end of your vacation.
