This motel looked a bit quirky from the outside - like a wild west town, but the rooms were spacious and well equipped. The cleaning was fine.
We didn't eat in the restaurant. Location is good for Milford Sound and Te Anau lake.

Our main purpose was to visit Milord Sound and I really expected this accommodation to be a bit tacky. Perhaps the general old time village theme reminded me of an Orlando theme park! How wrong; after a warm welcome we discovered our truly delightful room. Large, light and airy with a large, very comfortable bed and small kitchenette with microwave, sink, hot plates and fridge - all sparkling clean. A glass top table and chairs offered somewhere to sit and eat, plus there were also two comfortable sofa chairs. The bathroom was slightly small, but clean and adequate with a separate toilet adjoining. As the weather turned very cold, I was suitably impressed when I discovered an electric blanket on the bed, which I certainly made use of and slept very cosy. Our small kitchen gave us the option to get take aways and eat in, a plus as eating out had been our only option previously. The highlight of course was Milford Sound; what a splendid day we had for our cruise - 25 degrees and not a cloud in sight! Would recommend this accommodation and a visit to this area is a must!

Good morning,
thank you so much for taking the time to put in a review for The Village Inn. I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us, and that your accommodation exceeded your initial expectations.
And in Fiordland we know the importance of having electric blankets on our beds, it can get very chilly at times for our overseas visitors.
So thank you once again, I hope your holiday was all you wanted it to be.

This place is done up like an old time NZ goldfields village. We stayed in the police station (Room 813 ).
Two double beds and spacious enough. Bathroom was basic and the water pressure when demand was high could be improved.
Fittings include a fridge and tea making facilities.
No free wifi.
Comfortable enough and I would recommend this place..

We stayed here for just one night during our coach tour of the South Island and were pleasantly surprised by such a lovely place. It was decorated like an old town in the bush. Rooms excellent. The restaurant served a superb dinner and breakfast and all the staff were friendly.

Highly recommended!

I am very sorry that you found your unit so lacking. I do know the one you were booked into and this unit has actually had an upgrade except for the bathroom which we will be upgrading this off season.
If any of your concerns had been mentioned at the time we would have done our best to either rectify them or we could have changed your unit.
Once again I am sorry for your experience.

We were directed to the Village Inn by another motel, most hotels and motels were full in Te Anau. We were not expecting much and were just glad to have a room for the night. The surprise was a nice large room that was clean with an updated bathroom. I thought the shower was one of the best we had on our trip. The room rate included breakfast, it wasn't the Ritz but the food was good and included all the cold cereals, yogurt, eggs, bacon and beans if desired. Would I return if traveling through Te Anau again...YES

This room was spacious, comfortable, plenty of parking. The interior seemed a bit dated but this kind of added to charm. No nice views but on the doorstep of paradise it doesn't matter. It was good value and I'd stay there again.
